Landrieu tells Occupy NOLA protesters:'Now would be a great time to go ahead and get on up and go'

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu on Friday afternoon said Occupy NOLA protestors who have camped out in Duncan Plaza across from City Hall for the last two months must immediately begin to clear the park. "I am asking them to leave right now," Landrieu said. "Any time after this may see enforcement."

While acknowledging the protestors' rights to freedom of speech, Landrieu said it is against the law to be in the park between 10:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. and to have tents, kitchen equipment and electrical utilities in the park.

"I am giving notice on behalf of the city of New Orleans that we need to enforce the law now," Landrieu said, adding that the park has become a magnet for not only protestors but for the homeless and mentally ill.

The mayor also said he has seen two fights and noticed the area has become unsanitary.

"At some point in time, if they refuse to leave, I will initiate some action," Landrieu said.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said the relationship between the Police Department and protestors has been respectful but said his officers will soon begin to enforce city laws.

"We will be out in the park several times very visibly to let them know what the rules are," he said.

"Now would be a great time to kind of go ahead and get on up and go, and I hope you leave before we have to ask you to again," Landrieu said.

So why did you permit this to go on for almost 60 days?

A distinction without a difference.

The NOPD’s pride in their horses runs deep. It takes a good amount of training for both the horse and the officer to act effectively together. The NOPD has the best crowd control police force in this U.S. and a lot of it rides on their mounted horse police.

"Now would be a great time to kind of go ahead and get on up and go, and I hope you leave before we have to ask you to again,"

Folks have been saying the same thing to the people occupying New Orleans City Hall for 50 something years.

Landrieu did have a nice little friendly visit to this Occupy movement at the beginning. He was supportive of them, the few dozen who were there initially. Of course the local bums and homeless showed up to swell the ranks and well it went down hill from there.

"So why did you permit this to go on for almost 60 days? "

The Democrats thought it would help Commie Obama get re-elected.

However, all it has done is reveal to regular Americans what garbage supports the Democrats.

I saw two police men clear a packed Bourbon Street while chasing a perp and beating him with clubs. I was very impressed how the horses closed in on this guy, got on both sides of him with each cop smacking him hard. And down the street they went......LOL it was cool.

I wouldn’t mess around with them.
