Issa says Holder ouster is up to White House
The Washington Times ^ | Friday, December 2, 2011 | Chuck Neubauer

Rep. Darrell Issa, who has been investigating the Fast and Furious operation for nearly a year, declined on Friday to call for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to resign over the botched undercover probe that led to hundreds of weapons being “walked” to gun smugglers in Mexico.

Mr. Issa, California Republican, said the operation is not about Mr. Holder or Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, the head of the Justice Department’s criminal division, both of whom he has criticized strongly over their handling of the failed Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive’s (ATF) investigation.

“It is not about one person,” said Mr. Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, during a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

“It is about a failure that seems to be pervasive within Justice that investigations play fast and loose with the expectations of what is right or wrong when it comes to what I am going to call collateral damage,” he said.

In addition to as many as 1,400 weapons that found their way into Mexico, other guns — including AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifles — have been found at crimes scenes, including two at the site of the shooting death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, killed during a gunfight with Mexicans just north of the border near Nogales, Ariz.

It was not freaking BOTCHED! It went exactly as they planned it, until they got caught. This needs to be shouted from the moutaintops. Holder should be doing prison time.

Mr.Sowell— I respect. If the Impeachment of Eric Holder is in the hands of Obummer — then President ought be made to understand by protecting the EVIL and INEPT he has surrounded himself with he risks a National displeasure with himself as Community Organizer. Holder— Kagin — Napolitano—I can’t think of ANY in this EVIL Nazi REICH worthy of their position of power. His is a failed administration more EVIL and more un-American than any by the Peanut Farmer who was at least a natural born citizen.)

Oh, give me a break, why should I give these clowns any credit in their tactical/strategical political machinations with their history of incompetence?

Uh, maybe a wild guess?

What do you think Issa should be doing about Holder? Other than what he is doing?

Understanding that, as a member of Congress, he has no authority over Holder -- who is a member of the Executive?

Have you forgotten that the "treasonous" Holder is to officially testify before the committee on Dec 8th? That is why there has been an information dump about inaccuracies on the prior communique that the DOJ sent and also why Issa is not going to prematurely point a finger directly at Holder. That would be a stupid thing to do. Please, one and all, let's think before we react. I am quite sure Issa and Grassley are taking the proactive route right now and are not going to cinch the noose around anyone's neck until the time is right.

Oops, I’m afraid I was called to respond to a phone call and did not know of your post #49. I had my response half written before I stopped to take the call. When I returned to the thread I saw your post with the rest. I sound a bit redundant.

What a crock, What a bunch of weasels. Every last person involved should have already been sentenced to death for their gun running and murder operation. If we had real men in congress this would have happened almost a year ago.like I said from the beginning nothing but a Dog and Pony show, Issa should resign in disgrace along with the rest of the bunch. Frikkin Losers

Cal. Rep Issa is-a coward. You and I pay him 172,000 tax dollars a year. He spent a year investigating Attn. Gen. Holder and lacked the guts to recommend that Holder be jailed/ fired, or both.

Issa the coward is symptomatic of our sorry Congress: NOBODY will be a check and balance to the damned Obamanation administration.

If Congress will not oppose the staff of the Obamanator, then our Check and Balance clause in the Constitution is worthless, and so is Congress.

Until Issa the coward grows a spine, I will continue to say that Issa is-a coward.

Issa can't jail Holder. Nor can he fire him.

Given the current make-up of Congress and the Executive all he can do is apply pressure for a resignation. He can do that only by continuing the investigation -- unearthing more and more incriminating evidence...until the MSM can no longer deny Fast & Furious.

We control one House. We do not control the Senate, nor the Executive. His leverage is limited.

And you are impatient. Where he must be patient.

If Holder steps down (or jumps under the bus), it’s over. I don’t want it to be over. I want it to keep going, bleeding them slowly, making more criminals sweat and make mistakes while trying to cover their asses.

If this ends soon, the msm will heave a sigh of relief. I want them to sweat this out too, wondering how long they can keep protecting by not reporting. Let Issa and company keep chewing the bone.
