Rep. Darrell Issa, who has been investigating the Fast and Furious operation for nearly a year, declined on Friday to call for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to resign over the botched undercover probe that led to hundreds of weapons being walked to gun smugglers in Mexico.
Mr. Issa, California Republican, said the operation is not about Mr. Holder or Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, the head of the Justice Departments criminal division, both of whom he has criticized strongly over their handling of the failed Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) investigation.
It is not about one person, said Mr. Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, during a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
It is about a failure that seems to be pervasive within Justice that investigations play fast and loose with the expectations of what is right or wrong when it comes to what I am going to call collateral damage, he said.
In addition to as many as 1,400 weapons that found their way into Mexico, other guns including AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifles have been found at crimes scenes, including two at the site of the shooting death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, killed during a gunfight with Mexicans just north of the border near Nogales, Ariz.

Not everything is as it seems.
I get the feeling Issa is not folding, but simply continuing to play his hand.
Holder is suppose to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 8, probably why this letter was dumped today.
“The fbi was involved in this up to its eyeballs and is at least partially responsible for Brian Terrys death.”
Not only that, but I just read this tonight. It is taken from Ann Barnhardt’s blog. I have broken up into paragraphs for easier reading.
She has been giving a series of alternative radio interviews (not for the faint of heart) and has been turning down all MSM TV & most MSM radio requests to be interviewed about her “going galt” and closing her brokerage after the collapse of MF Global.
Below is a comment sent to her at her blog from a former FBI agent.
Ann,
I just listened to your interview on financial sense. I am a retired FBI White Collar Crime Supervisor who supervised a Securities Fraud Desk, in the {city name redacted} Division, prior to retiring in {year redacted}. Your analysis of the CME, the Obama Administration, and the sad state of our republic is right on the money.
In addition, your 8(a) minority, affirmative action hire comment could not be more true. The effectiveness of federal law enforcement has been jeopardized by the politically correct hiring practices ongoing since George Herbert Walker Bush was elected President in 1988. My squad was responsible for the investigation of complex, white collar crime investigations (primarily securities fraud and corporate fraud).
My career in the FBI spanned 24 years in five field divisions including New York, and FBI Headquarters. When I began my career, hires and promotion were merit based. The quality of agents working complex white collar crime investigations was high, most having worked for big eight accounting firms or brokerage houses prior to hire by the FBI. By the time I retired, minority and female agents were being assigned to my squad with no pertinent qualifications, and no apparent talent, dedication, work ethic or experience.
As a result, senior agents had to double up on complex investigations, and my minimum threshold for initiating investigation was dramatically increased to assure the greatest offenders were addressed adequately. Needless to say, cases that should have been addressed were no longer addressed due to the lack of qualified agents capable of successfully investigating and taking through trial, complex white collar crime cases.
After 9.11 the FBI all but abandoned complex criminal investigations, and transformed itself from the premier law enforcement agency in the world to a fourth rate domestic spy agency more concerned with violating citizens constitutional rights in the name of “protecting the general public from terrorism” than in completing its primary mission, enforcing Title 18 of the US Criminal Code.

Obama isn’t leaving for Hawaii vacation until the 17th. Back on Jan 2.
I don't think so, I think he is playing rope a dope. And throwing it not the usurpers hands. saying "You appointed him, you deal with it, but understood this, he is a campaign issue."
That only gives Issa more time to sift through the documents.
LOl, nutless wonder GOP.
Ah...you're right. I plead synaptic overload ;-)
Expect him to find any excuse to skip town this weekend, and maybe most of next week. Holder needs to stay away from moving buses for a while.
“Holder is suppose to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 8, probably why this letter was dumped today.”
I think so. He was already nailed on the false statements in that letter, so he formerly withdrew his “misleading” letter and sent over the doc dump today to weasel out of the false statements and explain how that letter got full of misleading statements (LOL)...
thus changing the subject, and giving the committee 5 whole days (lot of people will be burning the weekend oil) to prepare for the hearing.
However, you were close on an Obama motive...:-)
President Barack Obama suggested Friday that Congress may not enjoy a long holiday break if the House and Senate have not passed an extension of the payroll-tax cut. “We need to get this done. And I expect that it’s going to get done before Congress leaves. Otherwise, Congress may not be leaving and we can all spend Christmas here together,” Obama said.

-In early 2010, Gary Grindler was intimately involved in all aspects of Operation Fast and Furious. During the height of the operation, Grindler visited the President on four separate occasions in only two weeks link
Yes. Not folding. Playing the game with great care.
Issa gets ONE chance to win this. The stakes are VERY high. If Issa makes a single mistake he’s toast. When he makes the move to take down whoever he’s after, he must make sure there is no room for error, no room for escape, and that the takedown is instant and decisive.
Better still if he can persuade his targets to take each other down, rather than involving him. Saying it’s up to the Obama means the Obama must take a stand on this - and if the situation is as Travis’ favorite doctored cartoon indicates, taking a stand - any stand - will be the Obama’s demise. And when the Obama falls, he’s taking a lot of people with him.
“Feed ‘em enough rope and they’ll hang themselves” is an old wise principle. The way Issa is playing this, the bad guys will take each other out.
I think you'd be hearing Obama's bus warming up.
Issa is a coward,
Issa is a coward,
Issa is a coward,
Nanny, Nanny, Boo-Boo.
Yes, Issa wants Holder in front of that committee so they can put him on the grill and turn up the heat.
And what, pray tell, is the basis of your assertion?
Good points, but Issa is going to have to come out, at the end of all the investigations, and lay the blame (i.e. Obama’s the buck stops here statement) at Holder’s feet and then hold them and his balls to the fire until he does resign, whether asked to or not.
Holder is an enemy of the Constitution, the country and to white people and some other minorities. His departure would be a tremendous victory for an Obama-Free America.
“we win - we can prosecute and hang later.”
I like the way you think.
Judge Roy Bean
“in the end”? Who said this was over?
Uh, maybe a wild guess?
