Last May, when Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels was pondering a White House bid, Jason Sorens of the University of Buffalo wrote a commentary that went largely unnoticed. Wanting to "take a look at Jon Huntsman," who has been "widely viewed as a 'moderate' Republican, but whose" policies "stake out a position that may be more libertarian than Daniels'," Sorens concluded that after former Gov. Gary Johnson and Texas Congressman Ron Paul, Huntsman offered the most libertarian credentials besting even Daniels.
Sorens's views deserve recognition in New Hampshire, a generally conservative state with decisively libertarian leanings, as our first-in-the-nation presidential primary approaches.
Without question, Paul and Johnson represent the most libertarian GOP factions, but Huntsman's record and views may be best aligned with President Ronald Reagan's, who stated that "the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism." Sorens suggested labeling Huntsman's philosophy a "no-label libertarianism." In fact, like Reagan's, Huntsman's views might be best described as "middle-America libertarianism."...

I will be elected before Gov. Huntsman.
Why do you wacko libertarian Paulbots try to call yourselves conservatives when we who are only dismiss you?
Libertarians are Democrats who don’t want to pay their taxes.
Sorry, there seems to be something not quite right about the guy.
He isn’t a piece of paper but a person, and there’s something wrong there, especially in terms of electing someone who seems like a possible President.
If you can’t see it, no use explaining.
Why do you write in sentences that don’t make sense?
And you would do a better job I surmise. Libertarians - another word for liberals because they don’t want to pay taxes and are a bunch of pot smoking yahoos.
Of the GOP candidates Huntsman is the most in favor big Government statists solutions on everything from Global Warming to Banking regulations The only way to confuse Huntsman as being Libertarian is if you ignore everything in his agenda BUT his stands on social issues
There are more libertarians in the Republican Party than in the Democratic Party.
There is a political spectrum within Libertarian thought that runs left to right, but you want to lump all of them together and ignore that there are different varieties of “libertarian”.
Republican Libertarians are primarily concerned with upholding individual liberty...that is decidedly not a Democratic platform position.
Right. In some strange way, Huntsman is the Huckabee of this cycle. He does hold conservative positions on key social issues but otherwise is Big Government writ large. That model died (hopefully) with George Bush.
You Paulbots just can’t handle the truth on what a minority you are and how minimal your impact really is.
Time to start building up Huntsman for his “Save Obama” third party candidacy. Repayment for that cool China gig I guess or some future assignment to London or Paris.
IMHO, it won’t work but it is kind of fun to see the Huntsman for Prez campaign start to get some press. The MSM can always be counted on to come through for The Team.
BTW, denigrate means to put down.
Yes, I would do a better job! :) All I’d have to do for four years was say “no!” Save us a bundle and get the buck strong again.
Cheers!
