UPDATE -Mayor Emanuel is denying he is involved in anyway with the exchange of information regarding Cain's sexual harassment accusers.
Herman Cain's campaign is revealing suspicions about who is behind the story regarding the former unidentified employees who accused Mr. Cain of sexual harassment in the late 1990's.
According to a source who is friends with the Cain campaign, not only is the Rick Perry campaign involved but also the Mayor of Chicago and former Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is likely involved with the sexual harassment accuser attacks. A friend of the Cain campaign believes a National Restaurant Association (NRA) employee out of the Chicago office leaked the story to the Perry campaign via information and influence from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office.
According to Politico's Jonathan Martin, Curt Anderson, the Perry advisor who the Cain campaign is accusing of leaking the damaging information, is denying the charges:

There's your answer. Have you ever been harassed by a crazy hard-luck case? I have. Clients who turn out to be a few fries short of a Happy Meal, friends of friends who turn out to be professional grifters.
I'm sure that ministers, like lawyers, get some of those 2 a.m. phone calls. These days it's text messages. You try to respond politely but briefly.
And the source, the AJC, is as liberal as it gets, so if there were actually anything salacious in these texts it probably would already be out.
He doesn’t think the states should all have their own immigration policies/laws. That was what the reporter put as the headline, but when Cain clarified his response in that very interview being reported on he said that the states should be enabled to enforce the current federal immigration policy if the feds refuse to do it.
It is so easy for misunderstandings to end up being the accepted story line, even when ill intent isn’t involved. This morning I read an article where it was claimed that White’s business partner had said she had a 13-year lesbian relationship with White. I looked at the source article and possibly because the idea had already been planted in my mind, I read the prepositional phrases wrong , as if the description applied to Vay when it really applied to Cain. And then what White said about Vay fit right in with the lesbian idea so I got it wrong. Didn’t realize it until somebody asked where the ABC article claimed that Vay was lesbian. I went back to find the place so I could blast the poster for poor reading skills (lol) and came back with egg on my face. All with the best intentions of being accurate. So it happens even when people are trying to be careful.
I do believe that the media has ill intent for Cain, though. I saw them butcher the reporting on Cain’s abortion views as well as his immigration views. Normal people could easily be confused or deceived regarding what Cain actually said/meant - especially with inaccurate headlines and articles that used the less-clear part of what Cain said rather than the part where he clarified exactly what he meant.
Cain may or may not be the best man for the job. We can argue that, and that’s what a primary is for. But the same people who will trot out false accusers will also write false headlines, censor out Cain’s clear statements, etc. And when they’re done butchering Cain they’ll do the same thing to Newt. Or to Romney. Or whoever. It’s just what they do. Somehow conservatives need to figure out a game plan to deal with the media’s hatchet jobs on whoever happens to be the “flavor of the day”.
Right now one of my big interests with Cain is to flip the bird at the liars who commit reputational terrorism.
One thing I like about Newt’s responses to all this is that he refuses to take his eyes off of Obama as the enemy, rather than his primary challengers as enemies. I like that. Of course, he could be having his proxies trot out the accusers so he can then be the “good cop” and only appear to be so compassionate. Like Obama said he “felt for” his opponent, right after Axelrod got a judge to unseal embarrassing divorce records; Axelrod did the dirty work and Obama got to stand there looking empathetic above the fray.
What this all reminds me of is how very, very much I despise politics. Mankind is such a fallen, ugly creature. I’ll plug my nose and vote for whoever I have to - anybody but Obama. But my overwhelming feeling right now is that we human beings are so pathetically stupid. It is truly a wonder that God hasn’t destroyed us all by now.
We need Frodo.
The connection with the Bolsheviks is a straight line.
Trotsky was a moderate in that world.
Rahm wants Cain and Perry out. He has a likely plant around Cain feeding Herb the Perry trips. Rahm gets a twofer and takes out both of them. Could it be any more clear who they want as our nominee?
With Obama vs. Cain, Democrats lose the more conservative blacks, and quite possibly those outside the large cities. Cain says that's 30%.
With "unknown white person" vs. Cain, Democrats probably lose all the blacks ~ just for revenge.
In neither case can the Democrats withstand a Cain candidacy.
The Democrats cannot run their "great white hope" unless they get rid of Cain.
This article is a month old! LOL! What about this Ginger White gal, how does she fit in to this old gossip?
I just ignore this kind of rehash..
Just another steel magnolia wanting our country back.
Don’t you understand that Cain isn’t the one that needs to present facts? Last time I checked, the accusers faced the burden of proof. Now, my suspicions are that you are one of the many “Conservatives” duped by these allegations.
I do too, but I was pinged to it! LOL!
Now I’m going back to a thread that supports Rick Perry. I enjoy those! He’s a good guy. :)
So far as I can tell, the only candidate Perry has gone after so far is Romney. Gingrich gets praise for focusing on Obama and not attacking other candidates, but Rick Perry has been almost as good. It just looks like he’s been involved in attacks because all the other candidates keep attacking him.
You are quite right.
My husband and I are not into texting so I don’t know personally what is reasonable, but I know that with our kids’ texting, what would take place in a normal one-minute phone call can take 10-15 texts. If one conversation took 10 texts, that would be 7 conversations in a 2-week period. Like every other day.
Looks like in that 2-week period Cain responded to about 1 out of every 4 texts that she sent him. Not exactly a picture of eagerness.
That 2-week time period would have been when rent would have been coming due. Cain says he texted her to say stuff like, “What are you doing to try to find a job?” If it’s true that the texts from Cain were in clumps a short time apart, that would fit what he claims.
Somebody texting in the wee hours of the morning seems ridiculous, but if she’s losing sleep because she can’t pay the rent, I could see it happening that way. What time of day was Cain texting her back?
All in all, I could easily see this happening the way Cain describes it, just based on what my husband has experienced from people who are desperate to make ends meet and think they’ve found somebody soft-hearted who will help them. I’ve seen my husband really struggle to get out of the clutches of people who come back time and time again, knowing he/we want to help if we can. I have personally dealt with calls to our home phone because he didn’t answer every message they left on his cell phone. A person who’s not in a pastor’s family might not believe it, but these things come up a lot.
Right now my husband is dealing with somebody who wants him to intervene in a medical situation with her husband, because the money she has to live off is being spent on nursing home care instead and she thinks he should be able to come home. Sometimes my husband feels like this woman is stalking him because she’s just always in his face. She’s an older lady, but if she was 20 years younger and somebody wanted to make a big story out of it, they could come up with claims just like these claims against Cain, and his responses would be basically the same as Cain’s responses; my response would be the same as Cain’s wife’s response. We have lived with this kind of thing long enough to know that this stuff happens.
I can’t say what happened with Cain. I will just say that though White would be on the extreme end of the spectrum for people hounding a pastor for help, based on the desperation we have seen I could easily see things going just like Cain said they did. Most people have no clue what it’s like to be a pastor’s family, but when pastors’ families get together they nod their heads at each others’ stories like these because we’ve all seen it.
ok
Ministers get tons of grief. I have seen people turn on my minster over nothing and start trashing the minister to the other members. There was one incident where one of the volunteers spent money on behalf of the church and did not have permission, the minister got the bill and paid it ($5000), then told the volunteer they could not any more work. This volunteer was so pissed he sent a death threat letter to the minister. After that, there was a TRO against the volunteer for 3 months.
Oct 22-Nov 18 is 4 weeks, not 2. So this would be like a conversation of 10 texts every 4 days. A couple times a week.
I could easily see this being what Cain said it was. This is a woman who libeled her business partner by sending e-mails to city officials and clients claiming that her business partner likes to date Black men but doesn’t like Black women’s hair. She claims she didn’t respond to a subpoena because she thought everything was already settled. She’s either not playing with a full deck, or “troubled” as Cain describes her.
Stupid Ginger White needs to put up or shut up. She sounds like a dummy every time she talks.
Are my glasses gone bad or am I correctly reading this story was from 11/02/11? Wasn’t that a month ago?
The accusation against Perry was retracted by Cain on the 3rd. Yeah, there have been so many Cain retractions they’re hard to keep track of.
Cain is bagasse.
Fred, it’s sad but true. And very often a pastor cannot say what is necessary to defend himself, because of confidentiality concerns. He’s sort of a sitting duck, and certain kinds of people like to use defenseless people as punching bags.
A month-old story about Cain’s team blaming at least one supposedly innocent party (Perry)?
