Chris Christie steps up as Mitt Romney attack dog
Chicago Tribune ^ | December 1, 2011 | Michael A. Memoli, Washington Bureau

As Mitt Romney increasingly mixes it up with his primary rivals, he's unleashing Chris Christie to help take on the competition.

The New Jersey governor was on the campaign trail for Romney in Florida on Thursday, and had some choice words for his new chief antagonist in the GOP race, Newt Gingrich.

"Speaker Gingrich has never run anything," Christie said when asked to compare the two candidates, according to FLDemocracy2012.com, a Scripps Media project. "He's been a legislator. I have to tell you – I don’t think being a legislator is the best calling card."

"Look at the guy we have in the White House now: He never ran anything and was a legislator," he continued, linking Gingrich to President Obama.

Christie also dismissed Gingrich as just the latest "flavor of the two weeks," saying his poll numbers are just "as solid as the Cain numbers were, as solid as the Perry numbers were, as solid as the Bachmann numbers were."

In all fairness, conservatives benefit when primary candidates savage each other, because it points out the glaring deficiencies they suffer.

When conservatives reach the point that they don’t care if the anointed candidate is a Republican, they *still* won’t vote for him because he is such an irredeemable lemon, it may in the long run be a good decision.

If Obama is reelected, both houses of congress will still be Republican, and they will be unified in defying him and reversing his agenda. And the RINOs will be fairly neutered because they can’t play both sides against the other as effectively.

But if someone like Romney is elected, every foul thing that Obama has done will be set in concrete, the bad policies will be reinforced, and Romney will be like Hoover, thrown out and the Republicans vilified for another 25 years. The RINOs will rule congress and join with their Democrat allies in doing their level best to create depression and failure everywhere.

So let Romney savage Gingrich. Gingrich has it coming. And so does Romney. And so do the other candidates. Let them be royally flogged for their misdeeds and either try and win without conservative support, or put in writing how they will conform to the conservative agenda.

Loyalty should not be given easily. It must be earned.

"Speaker Gingrich has never run anything," Christie said

This fat pig has always run his mouth and needs to lose 100 pounds of pizza.

If Newt has never run any thing, how did his companies gross over $100 million in the past ten years?

Christie needs to stick to beating up the union goons and forget about his two friends, Ann Coulter and mittens.

Christie also dismissed Gingrich as just the latest “flavor of the two weeks,”

He should have said, “he’s just the flavor of the latest election cycle”...timing is everything.

He's continuing to destroy his conservative creds.

What planet did Christie ever have conservative cred on? He talks a good game on some items but at his core he is full-on NJ RINO.

“Coulter’s stock has fallen to the basement!”

Glen Beck cornered her today on which of the candidates she would pick. It was Romney, of course. Christie with none of the strengths, but the Northeastern tail must continue to wag the American dog as it always has.

Speaker Gingrich has never run anything

He's running a nice campaign!! Something Mitt can't do with all the money and media behind him.

Now Chris - go have a hamburger and butt out. You aren't going to be Mitt's VP because he's finished. Mitt ran a state and gave them big gov't RomneyCare. We already have that mindset in our house and we are getting rid of him.

Mitt try to take out Cain (behind the scenes) to rise in the polls and Newt jumps to the top. LOL! Now Mitt has his minions doing his work. Watch MB at the next debate - darts at Newt.

“Speaker Gingrich has never run anything”

Idiot.

To call him speaker in the same sentence as saying he’s never run anything shows Christie is either very dumb, or allowing his political feelings trump reality.

Speaker = running the House of Reps

Christie goes berserk after being criticized for appointing muzzie judge:

“Sharia Law has nothing to do with this at all, it’s crazy!” he cried. “The guy is an American citizen!” He concluded that the “Sharia Law business is just crap… and I’m tried of dealing with the crazies,” adding with disgust and frustration that “it’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background.”

Creep! He needs to stand up for NJ; condemn the NYC Mosque on a site where 700 New Jerseyeans were brutally murdered and drop his Islam-appeasing. If I was Susie Essman I'd say something else...

Isn’t Romney’s “claim to fame” that he focuses on attacking Obama and NOT the other GOP candidates?

Full of ****, that one.

Christie’s credibility is really going to take a hit in this campaign. I’m pretty sure he’s ensuring he could never get a GOP nomination EVER.

Support Romney all you want, but tearing down other Republicans and likening them to Obama was the wrong way to go for his GOP street cred.
