OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.
Gov. Rick Scott will be in Osceola County Thursday to make a major jobs announcement. He is expected to announce that firearms manufacturing company, Colt, will open a new plant in Kissimmee and it is expected to bring hundreds of jobs.
I'm very excited about the announcement, said Osceola County commissioner John Quinones.

Yes it is, and this is good news for Florida. Good job, Rick.

Expect the union organizers to stick their nose under this tent. Wish they’d picked another county.

I wonder which products they will make there.

Are they moving their plant and HQ, or just opening a new plant? I would LOVE to see ALL the gun manufacturers move out of "gun hating" states... I still can't believe that Kimber is located in Yonkers, NY. Besides me and Kimber guns, I can't think of anything else good to come out of Yonkers!

Seriously, though, Colt makes MANY different fire arms and I am simply curious as to which particular ones they will be tooling-up to produce at this facility.

To my knowledge, they are opening a plant. Not moving the HQ. But more info is going to come out later today.

This thread has just added to the
FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

Great, you knew I was being cute and didn’t get pissed. I read in the American Rifleman that they are trying to make a come back with their old peacemaker model and the 1911. Maybe they will be making those at the new plant.

Gosh, I wonder why they didn’t choose to expand right here in Connecticut. You know, Connecticut where the unions are so influential and the taxes are so high.

For the life of me I do not understand why any of the weapons manufacturers stay in the northeast. Were one of the companies mine it would have moved south years ago.

“I still can’t believe that Kimber is located in Yonkers, NY.”
Why would anyone manufacture a product that is almost impossible to buy or sell in the area where the plant is located? Someone smarter than me please tell me.
