“You havent provided anything but cover for a socialist sleeper.”

I think if he were going to be a socialist sleeper he would not have accomplished half the things he accomplished in the 1990’s.

Excellent. Romney can barely beat Cain when Cain is having a bad day. Maybe we will get lucky and Romney will drop out earlier this time and not play the role of a spoiler for another McCain.

So much for the “inevitability” talk re: Romney.

Gingrich is well short of what I’d consider a conservative, but he’s a damn sight better than Romney is, and I think a whole lot more competitive in the General.

Newt’s poll numbers were created by the DNC smear machine.

How about you provide some evidence to that?

This just in: Newt's long romantic nights with the bearded wonder of Havana in Oriente Province! Pass it on!

This ALSO just in! Newt had a fling with Marina Oswald the night of 21 Nov 1963, which set Lee off on a bit of a rampage the next day.

Huffington Post was shocked that Romney is FALLING. Here's how they put it...
PPP: "In Florida Gingrich is at 47% to 17% for Romney, 15% for Herman Cain, 5% for Ron Paul, 4% for Michele Bachmann, 3% for Jon Huntsman, 2% for Rick Perry, 1% for Rick Santorum, and 0% for Gary Johnson.

In Montana Gingrich is at 37% to 12% for Paul, 11% for Romney, 10% for Bachmann and Cain, 5% for Perry, 3% for Huntsman, and 1% for Johnson and Santorum.

These two states really exemplify one of the key emerging trends in the Republican race- Gingrich isn't just rising, Romney's also falling. His 17% in Florida is down 13 points from 30% when we polled the state in late September. His 11% in Montana is down 11 points from 22% when we polled the state in June."

>>Did Florida wind up moving their primary date and lose half its delegates?

Yes, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th contests all lost half their delegates for moving up their dates. (AZ and MI did too)
But an interesting thing about SC and FL is they are both winner take ALL. As it stands right now, Newt would sop up all those delegates
(75 total)

Romney is likely to win MI since he grew up there and his dad was governor there. The other W.T.A states below are probaly tossups.

3-Jan-12
IOWA
(CLOSED CAUCUS, PROPORTIONAL)

10-Jan-12

" Gingrich has argued the first priority for immigration reform is tighter border control. He has pushed for Congress to pass a narrowly written emergency border bill to finish the border fence between the United States and Mexico in less than a year and have complete border control within two years."

ANY PRESIDENT that will close the border FIRST (and not just talk about it) can get my support, and I'll fight the other battles down the road.

So much anger...really? C’mon...what’s with the namecalling and poor research? Several people have asked you to provide documentation for your statements, and I for one would also be willing to read and consider these items based on what you provide. However, as we all know, when we resort to name calling and anger we really don’t have the material to back up our statements. Is this true for you or are you holding back on us and have material to share? Seriously, for the sake of the discussion put it out there.
I’ve been watching the debates since the beginning and have watched several interviews. Newt is answering questions in regards to these past policy poistions he had in the past. This is a time for conservatives to vet these candidates, but we have to be honest about our own vetting process. I think that is what people are asking you to do...be honest and provide documentation for your statements of “fact.”

"sincere, humble"

Sincere, humble? Lol, I used to like Newt too, then he did a 180 an embraced amnesty for illegals so I took a good hard look at Newts' record on issues and realized he is a very good con man. Hope you take a hard look too, Newt is all over the place, he changes positions as easily as a high dollar hooker.

All the ‘Newt is better than Romney’ posters have it *ss backwards. Though both are RINO, one is the consummate Washington insider who profited from Fannie/Freddie and is a slap in the face to everything the Tea Party stands for.

I hope FR takes a stand on this if it really appears this is the choice in the home stretch.

Thank you for posting that.

People around here seem to have amnesia. Newt is what the Tea Party was created to oppose.

All that Noot acomplished in the ‘90s was vaporizing a golden opportunity to undo the wrong that was done to this country, but what he did do was Increase funding to the UN, PBS/NPR, and ACORN.

Without socialist Noot in the way, we could have gotten out of the UN, and every other destructive treaty, and saved the careers of eight conservative congressmen that Noot personally sabotaged.

A large part of Gingrich's problem are his arrogance, and his penchant for thinking out loud. I think he almost enjoys taking nuanced positions that can be misinterpreted, or tossing out controversial ideas for thought, because he likes to demonstrate that he is open-minded and intelligent.

The Pelosi thing is a great example. Newt likely viewed himself as co-opting the global warming issue in a direction that would require conservative solutions. He figures that's a clever way to get some moderates on your side by looking open to the issue, then steering them in your direction. Pure arrogance, because I suspect that while he knew it would be controversial among conservatives, he liked the idea of thinking he was just one step ahead of them.

All that being said, I think that the actual legislation he'd push would be solidly conservative. At this point, I suspect I'll be voting for him in the primary. But I do have real concerns about his arrogance leading to some problems either in the general election, or after being elected.

The man needs a does of humility.

Wow! Appreciate your willingness to have meaningful dialogue. You see comments like the one you just posted support what I said previously...you must have no real data to support your angry emotional position.
I was sincere when I said I wanted to read what you found, but your attack says a lot about your position. Sorry you are not interested in talking about the issue. Maybe you should turn off the computer, take a nap, and tomorrow when you wake up everything will...probably be the same but maybe you won’t be so cranky.
