I bet you never heard of Newt's shameless sexual exploitation of Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Dolly Madison, and Harry Houdini. Newt's been in DC a long time and Bob Axelrod will have his number!

Newt has also been linked, according to anonymous sources, with Scarlett O'Hara and Lara Antipova who was cheating with Newt (and even with me individually) on Yuri Zhivago, Strelnikov and Komarovsky behind their backs.

Axelrod is also looking into both of Lincoln's wives, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger and, ummm, threesomes with Marilyn Monroe and RFK. Axelrod considered making claims about Newt and Barney Frank but wasn't sure that Frank (in love with the limelight among other things) would decline to appear at a press conference.

LAPD is investigating possible links between the death by by drowning of Natalie Wood and an appearance by Newt before the Catalina Island Teen Age Republicans on the same weekend. Then there are the matters of the verrrry mysterious disappearances of Judge Crater, Jimmy Hoffa, Sr., and Amelia Earhart. The Fatty Arbuckle case is also being re-opened. Was it Arbuckle or Fatty Gingrich? Democrats want to know! As Ron Paul supporters might say, there is a lot there to think about! Explains a lot doesn't it??? Stephen King, Noam Chomsky and Oliver Stone, call your offices, now.

This just in: Newt's long romantic nights with the bearded wonder of Havana in Oriente Province! Pass it on!

LOL! I hadn’t heard about Newt and Harry Houdini. I’ll certainly never consider voting for him *now*!

PPP did a bunch of polls on the Rick Scott vs Bill McCollum GOP governor primary, and were the most accurate. Only one race, but I wouldn’t totally disgard it for being a democrat outfit.

I agree with your general point but, with respect, I believe you will find that Education was elevated to cabinet status by Eisenhower in 1953 as part of the reorganized Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Previously, there had been a short-lived Department of Education in the radical days after the War Between the States, several "offices of education" and finally, Carter saw to the legislative creation of the current separate cabinet-level Department of Education in 1979, effective May, 1980.

Newt was busy in Little League and grammar school when Eisenhower acted and was at most a freshman GOP Congressman without influence when the Department of Education as we now know it was created in 1979. We can rest assured that Tip O'Neill as Demonrat hack Speaker of the House of Representatives was not soliciting Newt's opinion or trying to accommodate him on education or anything else nor was spineless GOP "leader" and Gerald Ford/Tip O'Neill pal Bob Michel. Your main point is quite correct that Department of Education was not Newt's doing.

God bless you and yours.

I didn’t say that Noot “created” ANWR; just that he was one of its chief legislative promotors.

No, Newt was NOT a core sponsor of the creation of ANWR. In fact, he was not a co-sponsor either.

After looking at Gingrich's voting records for 1979 and 1980 I can find nothing which validates the claim that Gingrich wrote any of the legislation regarding the Dept of Ed or ANWR. In fact, while Gingrich did vote for H.R. 39, he was not even identified as a co-sponsor of this piece of legislation.

You may make any claim you wish regarding any candidate you wish, but, still, I await your evidence as requested previously. I’ve been scouring the web for any evidence that your claims regarding Gingrich has any truth to them. Thus far the only thing that could be said as fact is that Gingrich voted for H.R. 39, but was not a core sponsor nor a co-sponsor of that bill. There is nothing that I’ve found regarding his involvement with the Dept of Ed bill. Tilting at windmills a hobby of yours?

Thank you BlackElk. While I've yet to finalize my decision on a candidate in the GOP Primary, I find it reprehensible when alleged conservatives here on FR falsely vilify any of the candidates.

Name calling. Yep, that’s how to win a debate. You can’t dispute the FACT you are wrong about your claim Newt wrote any part of H.R. 39 - I’ve provided you evidence that he didn’t - so, you resort to ad hominem! Nice! Well, you have a nice life, anyway.

In 2008, he hailed John McCain’s efforts in the crafting of the TARP legislation:

Gingrich put out a statement hailing McCain’s eleventh-hour intervention. “This is the greatest single act of responsibility ever taken by a presidential candidate and rivals President Eisenhower saying, ‘I will go to Korea’.” Eisenhower’s pledge was enough to reassure voters that if elected he would find a way to resolve the Korean conflict. McCain’s high-octane involvement in the bailout is meant to convey the same sense of stature and leadership, and to provide cover to reluctant Republicans to support a deal that runs counter to everything they thought they stood for.

“It’s just about time for state-controlled media to pulls some imaginary Gingrich bimbos (or bimbettes, as the case may be) out of their magic Republican scandal hat.”

Don’t worry they will!

I’ve always had the impression that there was a Cain-like smear campaign in store for our Sarah had she declared. The book that came out just before she said no, by the “creep next door” was a shot across the Palin bow.....

Politics has never been even a remotely civil endeavor, but as practiced today it’s destructively toxic.......Someday soon I hope we can make it known to the media and the Dems that such behavior wil nor longer be tolerated.....(I can dream can’t I?)

He is a winner and will not go down with the Old Man ship like Palin did.”

You’re both wrong. Rubio will not now or ever be a candidate for either President or Vice President. There’s this little thing called Article II that blocks his way........ too bad really......maybe in another life!

I skimmed through the thread to see if anybody brought it up and did not notice. Did Florida wind up moving their primary date and lose half its delegates?
