MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) Marine Gen. James F. Amos, the face of opposition in the military to lifting the ban on gays serving openly, now acknowledges his concern has proven unfounded that repeal would undermine the war effort. In fact, he says, Marines have embraced the change.
In an Associated Press interview, Amos called the repeal in September "a non-event."

AP messed up their own title LOL
How did he get to be “Top Marine”?
Embraced my ass. He is kissing butt for political reasons and certainly not listening to his NCO’s.
You beat me!
Lol...
by being a “bottom”?
That’s bullshiite, not in the Corps I knew.
He’s wrong, of course. I recall there was at least one Navy bigwig who lost his position because of a “homophobic” comedy clip he had been showing to his men for years. Letting the gays “come out” has basically brought the political correctness in. They’re going to use it to slowly remove everything that has strength or machismo in military culture or policy.
This will be controversial here, but I am quite confidant that homosexuality is more a psychological disorder than alleged “genetics”. There have been no legitimate studies that have shown a connection between genetics and homosexual behavior. However, there IS a known connection between homosexuality and depression (even in more “tolerant” societies) and narcissistic disorder. This isn’t PC, but it isn’t wise to introduce such people into a military where you get your feelings hurt everyday by your commanding officer. It’s just asking for abuse by political correctness. Not to mention other issues that will come about with it.
I’ve known many Top’s, none of which were Generals!
Watch your 6 !!!
Hahaha!
I don’t think enough time has passed for gays to fully infiltrate the USMC so that you would see the effects. Anyone who is currently deployed must have enlisted long before the effective repeal of DADT.
That’s about the smelliest pile of bull Obama ever printed.
In the future, I wonder where and how patriotic, moral Americans will serve their country when the Armed Forces become too politically-correct, leftist and corrupt for them to serve there?
Looks like some body got to the good General. I don’t know many active duty any longer, but the General’s ‘unfounded concern’ is not what they’re passing on to me.
I know two getting out, in part, over this.
I think it is way, way too soon to decide what the ramifications are. It could be 2-3 years before they notice a gradual change in the nature of the new enlistees. Who is more willing to join up. Who is less willing... 2 months isn’t going to tell them anything.
The first noun to follow the word ‘Military’ is ‘DISCIPLINE’
Sexual activity is by its nature ‘undisciplined’ and homoerotic sex is a bridge too far.
This is most definitively the destruction of the US military. Planned and executed forthwith.
Too early to say. Give it a little more time and see what people think.
(Of course... what they say and what they think are not necessarily the same thing...)
I wonder how recruiting is coming along? I know of several military families who are have served for generations, but are strongly discouraging their children from doing the same because of the repeal. Of course that may have been the democrats plan all along, push conservatives out of the military and make it more left wing. As things stand right now, if push came to shove, the democrats know what side the military would come down on, and it wouldn’t be theirs...
It is if it affects the people in now and the quality of people willing to join up. Publicly you won’t hear most of them saying anything because they try to refrain from commenting on policy but privately they aren’t real thrilled about it. And why should they have to wait 2 to 3 years to see if a liberal social experiment works? Troop moral (and quality) should trump this kind of crap. Perhaps “ramifications” isn’t the right word to use in any case.
