I think it is way, way too soon to decide what the ramifications are. It could be 2-3 years before they notice a gradual change in the nature of the new enlistees. Who is more willing to join up. Who is less willing... 2 months isn’t going to tell them anything.

It is if it affects the people in now and the quality of people willing to join up. Publicly you won’t hear most of them saying anything because they try to refrain from commenting on policy but privately they aren’t real thrilled about it. And why should they have to wait 2 to 3 years to see if a liberal social experiment works? Troop moral (and quality) should trump this kind of crap. Perhaps “ramifications” isn’t the right word to use in any case.
