Republicans (Mods and Conservatives) don’t want Obama defeated badly enough. (Vanity)

I’m thinking that Republicans really don’t want Obama defeated badly enough. We are very close to pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. Even we Conservatives seem hell-bent on destroying, or helping the media destroy, everyone of our candidates one at a time by backbiting and devouring each other over “one-issue” disagreements. Some Johnny-one-notes have “Abortion” as their issue. For many, it’s “non-Electability” or a candidate is “not a good Debater” or confuses “Elvis’ birthday” with the anniversary of his death. And for a true Conservative, Rick Santorum, he will be undone because, bless his heart, he has the “Charisma” of a foot stool. But, he just might surprise all of us coming out of Iowa.

The big one now, however, is “Immigration” for which Newt is paying a high price for having the courage to be the only candidate, from any Party, to come up with a logical, workable solution to a very complex problem that has been ignored by the last five Presidents. Now we have a monster on our hands. People criticize him but, my question is what is your solution? Deport them all? Are you willing to help car pool 11 million of them back to Mexico?

Enough already!! After the convention, we will proudly send our nominee into the General Election bloodied, beaten and wounded against a united, well funded, Democratic Socialist Party and we will get our butts handed to us on a platter and we will have four more years of President Obozo. Many Conservatives have threatened to stay home on Election Day if their guy or gal is not the nominee. But, by golly, we would have “made a statement”. Well, the only problem is, you always find people who “made a statement” in the “Lost Column”.

We can’t deport them. So, we’ve got to figure out a way to force them to leave on their own free will or come up with “some” solution. If you don’t like Newt’s then let’s come up with something. This can has been kicked down the road for too long. GeronL (Post #34) has a good solution. I would only add a heavy fine for employers hiring those they know to be illegal. I was addressing those people who say: “Deport every damn one of them”. Nonsensical.

Unfortunately, the unstated premise of your argument is that any republican nominee, no matter whom, would be better than Obama. That is simply not true. As easy pickin’s, Mr. Huntsman would not be an improvement over Obama and, in fact, would be worse than Obama because his presidency would be taken as a (false) consensus that Americans want left-wing/liberal policies and government after all, which would make it orders of magnitude harder to undo all the damage the democrats/liberals have managed to do in 5 short years.

Not quite so easy, but still a case that should be self-evident, is Mr. Romney. All one need do is examine his abysmal record in Massachusetts to come away with the firm conviction that not only will he renege on all of his promises to support conservative/republican policies, he will simply be a more efficient, more ruthless enforcer of the political status quo, which means that he will simply enforce pre-existing democrat/liberal laws and policies even harder than the Obama (mal)administration is enforcing them. Again, a Romney presidency would make it orders of magnitude harder to undo the damage wrought by the democrats/liberals because their policy choices and laws will become cemented into place based on the (false) argument that a Romney presidency represents a consensus among Americans favoring democrat/liberal policy choices.

So, I have to disagree with your thesis; if Mr. Huntsman or Mr. Romney is the GOP nominee to run against Obama in 2012, then it would be better that Obama have a second term than that we have a Huntsman or a Romney Presidency that cements Obama-ism into place for at least a generation to come. On that basis, staying home, or at least simply voting for Congressional/local elections and not voting for President, is a better choice than voting for a Huntsman or a Romney.

I really wish the Republican candidates would just respond to these immigration questions with a simple “I will enforce the laws on the books”.

Exactly!!!

I can’t believe any of the mods on here haven’t responded yet. Calling out the mods on this forum is very brave indeed. I find it odd that at times seem to talk to themselves as they were really different people.

I can agree on some conservatives. I knows some conservatives have their know chosen ones. The claim they won’t vote if their choice is not the candidate. I know to much history to not to vote.

Don’t them let work or get welfare.

If they can't work legally and they can't get welfare, gee...what to do...well, there's always crime to fall back on. Selling drugs seems to be a popular alternative. And a wide range of vocations in the black market of course.

You people are plain idiots. You expect them to starve? Or just pick up stakes and go back to a country they haven't seen in maybe twenty years? Why would they do that when they can sell drugs to your kid?

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide."

If they comit (more) crimes they should be arrested, serve their time, and be dropped off in their own country.

This is not their country. Imagine living here for 20 years and never make the first step or attempt to become Americanized. They don’t want to be Americans, they are colonists.

They are Pro-God and Pro-Life also but 95 percent of them still vote for Obozo. What’s wrong with this picture? Maybe they’re afraid the Illegal Mexicans will cut into the Entitlements that the Black Community has claimed as theirs exclusively since 1964 and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Elect Herman Cain and a 2/3 Republican majority in both houses of Congress.

That's how we take this country back.

I wish you well. I did the same thing at age 50. I just retired a year and a half ago. It ain’t like it was when I was in school, but, there are still a lot of good kids who want to learn, get an education and make something of themselves. Pour into those kids and don’t stress over the thugs; they’ve already “dropped out”, they’re just waiting until they’re old enough to “quit”. Go make a difference!!!

“No new bureaucracies. No new laws needed.”

I was disappointed to hear of Newt’s immigration plan after the debate. I do not have cable, so I was unable to watch. I have read articles since the debate that said that he was proposing, “local boards” that would determine which illegals could stay. After reading that, my thoughts were, “Great..just what we need - another bureaucracy, albeit a local one.”
