Republicans (Mods and Conservatives) don’t want Obama defeated badly enough. (Vanity)

I’m thinking that Republicans really don’t want Obama defeated badly enough. We are very close to pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. Even we Conservatives seem hell-bent on destroying, or helping the media destroy, everyone of our candidates one at a time by backbiting and devouring each other over “one-issue” disagreements. Some Johnny-one-notes have “Abortion” as their issue. For many, it’s “non-Electability” or a candidate is “not a good Debater” or confuses “Elvis’ birthday” with the anniversary of his death. And for a true Conservative, Rick Santorum, he will be undone because, bless his heart, he has the “Charisma” of a foot stool. But, he just might surprise all of us coming out of Iowa.

The big one now, however, is “Immigration” for which Newt is paying a high price for having the courage to be the only candidate, from any Party, to come up with a logical, workable solution to a very complex problem that has been ignored by the last five Presidents. Now we have a monster on our hands. People criticize him but, my question is what is your solution? Deport them all? Are you willing to help car pool 11 million of them back to Mexico?

Enough already!! After the convention, we will proudly send our nominee into the General Election bloodied, beaten and wounded against a united, well funded, Democratic Socialist Party and we will get our butts handed to us on a platter and we will have four more years of President Obozo. Many Conservatives have threatened to stay home on Election Day if their guy or gal is not the nominee. But, by golly, we would have “made a statement”. Well, the only problem is, you always find people who “made a statement” in the “Lost Column”.

Our best shot is Herman Cain.

I agree. Herman Cain is the best shot at defeating Obama and reforming the “Good ol boy” GOP.

I’ll step up... Newt is my candidate, but what you said about him and all the other candidates is absolutely correct. The level of vitriol on this forum, especially, but with a lot of others, towards candidates they oppose is exactly what the dems need and want the republicans to be doing right now, and that includes the media to a great degree.

Many Conservatives have threatened to stay home on Election Day if their guy or gal is not the nominee.

Lots of folks here said the same thing about John McCain (about whom I was first to start a thread on why he was unacceptable as the GOP nominee). Then he chose a conservative running mate and virtually everyone went and voted for him.

I won't be surprised if the second verse is the same as the first.

How would a candidate fare if they said on the debate stage that if elected, they’ll hire on all the others up there, and take the best of their collective ideas?

We don’t have to deport any of them as you suggest. We make it illegal for them to work by fining employers $10,000.00 a day for each one on his payroll. We make it so they get NO government benefits, ZERO. If they have an anchor baby fine, they can take them with them or leave them here to be adopted.

And the ACLU will file suit to make sure all of the one’s you and Newt decide can stay are also made citizens.

And people like you can go shine Newt’s shoes, after all you’re already down there right.

"[T]he exercise of the elective franchise is a social duty of as solemn a nature as man can be called to perform...a man may not innocently trifle with his vote...every elector is a trustee as well for others as himself and that every measure he supports has an important bearing on the interests of others as well as on his own. "Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. You can’t even debate immigration without saying others want to round up and deport 11 million people and bus them to border?

Cutting off the welfare and jobs with e-verify wouldn’t require any of that. As a matter of fact it would take LESS resources and government bureaucrats that Newt’s plan.

“There remains the one standard that has not yet been universally used, namely, the choosing of candidates on moral grounds. A nation always gets the kind of politicians it deserves. When our moral standards are different, our legislation will be different. As long as the decent people refuse to believe that morality must manifest itself in every sphere of human activity, including the political, they will not meet the challenge of Marxism. Contemporary history proves that modern political leaders, devoid of a moral inspiration and relying solely on a mass basis (might makes right), proves ineffectual in time of crisis."

-- Fulton Sheen, “COMMUNISM and the CONSCIENCE of the WEST” -1948

Apart from hand wringing, what are you doing to make sure that bam bam is denied a second term?

Having the media and the Dem establishment doing their utmost to destroy all viable GOP candidates is a given. Resistance from entrenched GOP interests was also expected. It's going to take work. That shouldn't be a big surprise.
