"Editor,
Has American become the land of the double standard?
Lets see: if we lie to the Congress, it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us its just politics; if we dislike a black person, we're racist and if a black person dislikes whites, its their 1st Amendment right; the government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims; in public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process;you can kill an unborn child, but it is wrong to execute a mass murderer; we don't burn books in America, we now rewrite them; we got rid of communist and socialist threats by renaming them progressive; we are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the38th parallelin Korea; ifyou protest against President Obama's policies you're a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right.
You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas; we have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people; we can use a human fetus for medical research, but it is wrong to use an animal.
We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work; we all support eh Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology; we still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct; parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games; the land of opportunity is now the land of hand outs; the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.
And how do we handle a major crisis today? The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes; tells us the problem is solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign.
What has happened to the land of the free and home of the brave?

Can anyone shed light? I think the content is pretty awesome.
All it lacks is “Paul Harvey ..... Good day?”
G.K. Chesterton:
“The first effect of not believing in God, is that you lose your common sense.”
It certainly passes my fact-check test!
the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.
Come Ken(Huber) {the author}... this has been coming on for fifty+ years.. its not NEW...
Every since FDR started buying off the populace its been getting worse..
Ken must be democrat totally ignorant of what it is to be a democrat..
I’ll bet Ken is totally ignorant of Cloward-Piven tactics as well..
“Top down, bottom up, inside out”... has been and IS the plan..

Come on Ken get a “CLUE”...
This grinds my gears. The local and state governments in Louisiana screwed the pooch in the response to Katrina. The Feds did what they could by law, until it became necessary to take the ball and run with it.
Obama did jack squat, except play golf and talk to his daughter about it. Oh, and he did threaten to "kick someone's ass".
Nice catch. President Bush did everything in his power to help. It was local officials like Ray "School Bus" Nagin and I forget the worthless Governor's name who failed miserably to execute their assigned duties.
Kathleen Blanco.
I didn’t see:
* We can’t profile at the airport those who are likely to try to kill us, but our children can be seen naked and groped by strangers.
* If we buy two semi-automatic weapons, we are reported to the feds, but if the feds want, they can sell thousands of semi-automatic assault rifles to Mexican drug lords. Those rifles are then used to murder our own border agents.
I got this in an e-mail in the last year
Many problems are attributable to our devolution to a nation of men rather than a nation of laws. Inscribed over the entrance to the Supreme Court are the words “Equal Justice Under Law.” This principle is excellent but has been degraded over many decades. Nowadays, laws are written with exceptions for certain classes of people, violating the above principle even before it can be put to the legal test. It’s human nature to support laws that work in ones favor, but to oppose laws that work against ones favor. We entrust our leaders to write and enforce laws universally, but our leaders are more interested in currying favor with one faction or another. The end result is factionalism, which—after sufficient time and suffering—will produce internal strife. A house divided cannot stand.
Here’s what’s happened.
When you take away God and His objective, absolute morals, you must replace them with something. They are replaced with man’s subjective, relative morals, not weighted on any authority greater than himself.
That’s why we have all this crap today. Laws that make no sense, that punish the innocent and protect the guilty. Laws that make normal things crimes and let real criminals skate away under their ‘right’ to do perversion or evil of any form.
yes, that is totally incorrect. Bush did a ton to help. THe governors there and the local people in charge bit the big one. School bus Nagin for one.
During Katrina, the MSM carried the Democrat water as usual by playing the race card and ignoring the Constitution. And the sheeple ate it up. That was when I first began to really figure out that Fox News was just another branch of the MSM; when Sheperd Smith was allowed to keep his job after his reports of murder, rape and cannibalism in the Superdome while asking where the feds were.
Sad but true.
G.K. Chesterton:

If you don’t believe in God, you’ll believe anything!
I’m not real keen on this line...
the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.
Shouldn’t that read something like...
POTUS Bush allowed State and Local Officials to deal with Katrina, dispatched the Coast Guard rescue choppers, while FEMA waited for requests for assistance.
When the well blew out, POTUS Obama and his EPA blocked efforts to save sensitive marine ecosystems and tourist beaches while they schemed the best way “not to waste a crisis”?
Hi Recovering Democrat! Yes! Ken Huber in Tawas City, MI is a real person! I looked him up in whitepages.com and called him when I saw his Letter to the Editor. He’s a retired city administrator, and removing of the manger scene in the park indeed happened in his city. He’s gotten calls from all over the U.S. and done countless interviews. What he says rings true to those who read it, if they have an open mind. We all need to say “get the government off my freedom.”
