Still not sure why Newt trotted out this controversy at a point where he was 30% up. But according to the NYT, this has always been his view:

“Mr. Gingrich, who takes Spanish classes and has started a bilingual Web site, The Americano, was not offering a new position. But his long-held view was suddenly receiving scrutiny because he has emerged as a leading candidate for the nomination.”

AMEN! Stick a fork in him, he’s done. Whether we like it not, Cain, flawed as he is, he is the ONLY conservative alternative to Mittens. I like Santorum and would also support Bachmann but they are not going anywhere in 2012.

I agree with you 100%.

NumbersUSA has some very interesting things to say about Newt Gingrich that I did not know, and am seriously disappointed to discover. See the following:

Gingrich Shows ‘Compassion’ for Illegal Aliens He Helped Stay Rooted in U.S., By Roy Beck - Wednesday, November 23, 2011, 10:56 AM EST

Newt didn’t explain how/why an illegal act can be whitewashed from laws that apply to other persons. It struck me that he didn’t seem to be at least concerned that if you can hide your violation long enough and reap the benefits, even though with good labor and marriage, you get a pass. Made me think of that lady who evaded the crimes of the Weathermen in the Bay Area for years. Newt struck out on this one and is probably hurt by his position, at least for me.

I'm starting to get a little pissed.

Jump in Sarah. You're the only sane person on the planet who can do it.

Gingrich is doing fine in Iowa.

He may even win it.

And it will be because he speaks the truth and does not lie and pander.

Let me just ask one question....

Do you have your rights because you are a citizen or because ALL MEN are CREATED Equal and ENDOWED by their creator?

This issue is NOT the first time our statutes have not been in keeping with our Declaration.

And an unjust statute is no law at all.

Is Newt really a conservative??

1. Card-Carrying member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a globalist think tank
2. “Distinguished member” of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (neocon, pro-interventionism group)
3. Voted for NAFTA
4. Continually supported increased federal spending.
5. Supported the National Endowment for the Arts;
6. Voted for the creation of the Federal Dept. of Education in 1979 under Jimmy Carter.
7. He helped push through Federally-funded loan guarantees to Communist China.
8. Urged the House to repeal the War Powers Act and give the Presidency more power.
9 Supported Clinton’s welfare programs, education programs, labor programs, and environmental programs, as well as most of his foreign affairs programs.
10. Pushed for a School Prayer Amendment
11. Bailed out savings and loan institutions in 1991. $40B Bank bailout
12. He cosponsored the 1987 Fairness Doctrine (anti 1st Amendment legislation)
13. 11/27/1994 – He supported the GATT Treaty giving sovereignty to the U.N.
14. 04/10/1995 – He supported Federal taxdollars being spent on abortions.
15. 06/1995 – He wrote the foreword to a book about tearing down the U.S. Constitution and implementing a Fascist World Government.
16. 06/01/1996 – He helped a Democrat switch parties in an attempt to defeat constitutionalist Ron Paul in the 1996 election.
17. 02/15/2007 – He supported Bush’s proposal for mandatory carbon caps.
18. 12/02/2010 – He advocates a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens.
19. 03/15/2011 – Says that NAFTA worked because it created jobs in Mexico.
20. 03/23/2011 – He completely flip-flopped on Libyan intervention in 16 days.
21. 04/25/2011 – He’s a paid lobbyist for Federal ethanol subsidies.
22. 05/15/2011 – He backed Obama’s individual mandate; “All of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care.”
23. He plans to sign as many as 200 executive orders on his first day as president.

and on and on.

Newt is an establishment Republican and just represents more of what we have come to distrust the GOP for.

I oppose Newt because he could easily turn on a dime on any issue, individual mandate, House Bank, Dede Scozzafava (maybe he’ll put her on the federal judiciary?)

Newt will have to quickly talk his way out of this bump. Unlike Perry or Cain, I think he’s likelier to be able to.

We can be proud of a GOP nominee who fights for the rights of illegal aliens and takes hundreds of thousands of dollars from Fannie and Freddie to be its “historian.” /s

Many conservatives will not hold their noses to vote for him under any circumstances if he would be the nominee.

Imagine someone who robbed a bank, perhaps several banks, perhaps several times; then that someone helped several family members rob some banks; and they got away with robbing banks for several years, then decades ...

Since this lucky fellow, and all his lucky family, and all their lucky friends, and their families, got away with robbing banks for so long, ...

Now all these lucky bank robbers get free bank accounts, loaded with free money; they get to be honored members of the boards of the banks they robbed, with full voting rights on the disposition of the remaining wealth of the bank customers they previously robbed into oblivion.

Whatta country!!!

For the last ten years, new immigrant citizens have voted 80% for the Democratic Party.

That is the essential issue.

Would the Hard Left support Amnesty and Open Borders if new citizens voted 80% for Conservatives?

Of course not.

Current immigration policy is political suicide for the GOP.

Send them ALL back to Mexico.

If they can't find work or welfare most will leave.

Let them apply for entry through LEGAL and ESTABLISHED channels. No special deals!

....and all the lipstick in the world will still not hide anyone's liberal tendencies as long as they support Amnesty, or "Gore-Bull Warming."

Of course, Newt is simply following in the footsteps of another, RINO, "Compassionate Conservative" (BARF) who also advocated/supported "Amenesty!"

People are ignoring some key remarks he made, such as “I believe ultimately you have to find some system – once you’ve put every piece in place, which includes the guest worker program, you need something like a World War II Selective Service Board that, frankly, reviews the people who are here. If you’re here – if you’ve come here recently, you have no ties to this country, you ought to go home. period.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a full transcript of his remarks from the debate:
“I did vote for the Simpson-Mazzoli Act. Ronald Reagan, in his diary, says he signed it – and we were supposed to have 300,000 people get amnesty; there were 3 million - but he signed it because we were going to get two things in return: We were going to get control of the border and we were going to get a guest worker program with employer enforcement.
“We got neither. So I think you’ve got to deal with this as a comprehensive approach that starts with controlling the border, as the governor said. I believe ultimately you have to find some system – once you’ve put every piece in place, which includes the guest worker program, you need something like a World War II Selective Service Board that, frankly, reviews the people who are here.
“If you’re here – if you’ve come here recently, you have no ties to this country, you ought to go home, period. If you’ve been here 25 years and you got three kids and two grandkids, you’ve been paying taxes and obeying the law, you belong to a local church, I don’t think we’re going to separate you from your family, uproot you forcefully and kick you out.”
“The Krieble Foundation is a very good red card program that says you get to be legal, but you don’t get a pass to citizenship. And so there’s a way to ultimately end up with a country where there’s no more illegality, but you haven’t automatically given amnesty to anyone.”
“I do suggest if you go back to your district, and you find people who have been here 25 years and have two generations of family and have been paying taxes and are in a local church, as somebody who believes strongly in family, you’ll have a hard time explaining why that particular subset is being broken up and forced to leave, given the fact that they’ve been law-abiding citizens for 25 years.”
“I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are members of the community, who may have done something 25 years ago, separate them from their families, and expel them.”
“I do believe if you’ve been here recently and have no ties to the US, we should deport you. I do believe we should control the border. I do believe we should have very severe penalties for employers, but I would urge all of you to look at the Krieble Foundation Plan.”
“I don’t see how the party that says it’s the party of the family is going to adopt an immigration policy which destroys families that have been here a quarter century. And I’m prepared to take the heat for saying, let’s be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.”
