Gingrich Risks Conservative Outrage on Immigration‎

Did Newt Gingrich have a “heartless” moment on Tuesday night?

In a September debate, Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, drew a furious response from conservatives in his party when he said critics of in-state tuition for illegal immigrants “did not have a heart.” The response halted Mr. Perry’s momentum amid charges from rivals that he was too soft on the issue of immigration for the party faithful.

Now, Mr. Gingrich — the newest leader in the national polls — has embraced a similar apostasy: the idea that the country should find a way to make many millions of illegal immigrants legal.

We are going to have to grant some of the millions of illegals who now live here some legal way of staying. That is just the practical humanitarian course of action. However, we must NOT allow such people a path to being allowed to vote. That must be part of the price that we levy for violating our laws, and also to punish any politicians who thought they were developing a new voting block.

You still here?

Sorry but after you wrote your own opinions into the body of an NRO story about Cain hoping to pass off you opinions as part of the story, you ended any credibility you might have as a Freeper

“If people who come here illegally are going to get to stay illegally for the rest of their life, that’s going to only encourage more people to come here illegally,” Mr. Romney said.

Sounds like Mitt is speaking for us....that oughta make you stop and think.

Gingrich said in the debate the foreigners were already allowed to serve in the U.S. military. Illegal aliens have never been allowed to serve in the U.S. military. Foreign born persons who are pemanent resident aliens (people with green cards) can enlist if they meet the other requirements.
Gingrich is mixing up legal immigration with illegal immigration. See ya Newt! Who is next?

What is this, the 100th time you’ve made that false accusation and been called on it?

Are you ineducable or just dishonest?

It was not my opinion, Skippy, it was tagged at the end of the article. I don’t know who posted all of the info on Herman Cain calling Bush, “too Conservative” etc. You can go ask them on that site. It wasn’t me.

I now await your 101st false accusation of writing that which will surely show up on the 24th, 25th, or 26th thread on the same damn thing.

If that came from Newt, it is something I would probably agree with. If it came from you, you made more sense with that comment than any I have heard.

“We are going to have to grant some of the millions of illegals who now live here some legal way of staying.”

If that happens you might as well roll out the red carpet and invite the third world to come over and stay.

Amnesty is a death sentence for the rule of law.

Excellent suggestion.

They can apply for a permanent green card to stay as guest workers or go home and apply for legal immigration leading to citizenship. Not both.

Applications would be granted on a one to one ratio as undesirables are deported. Start with the gang bangers and serious criminals. Work your way up to the petty criminals and social service consumers (but I repeat myself).

Those who fall in between would have to determine if they are a candidate for a permanent green card or for deportation. Many would self-deport, giving us a manageable number to work with.

User fees from the successful permanent green card applicants would be used to pay for deportation of the undesirables, including voluntary repatriation.

Those who want to transform America into another Latin American style third world kleptocracy are fond of saying your can't deport everybody. What they really mean is that they don't want us to deport anybody.

After sealing the border and installing the mandatory use of E-Verify by employers permitting legal residence, NOT CITIZENSHIP for illegals who have been here for 20-25 years with steady jobs, paid taxes and a clean records may be a logical approach. I like the idea of a Selective Service type screening board.

"However, we must NOT allow such people a path to being allowed to vote."

Non citizens are already legally voting. For now it's limited to local elections.

Yep that's the deal or go home..simple. It's a two step punch which takes both down.
