Almost immediately upon Sarah Palin's announcement that she would not seek the Republican nomination for president, the phone calls from almost all of the GOP candidates began pouring in. They wanted her endorsement.
While Palin has characteristically kept her cards close to her chest, advisers suggest that the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is likely to endorse before someone emerges as the inevitable nominee -- and that Newt Gingrich appears to be best-positioned to secure her support.
"They speak very favorably of Newt and what they see as his credentials as compared to Perry and Romney," one member of Palin's inner circle said of the former Alaska governor and her husband, Todd, who has long served as her unofficial chief adviser.
Gingrich has been particularly effusive in expressing his admiration for Palin over the last few months, and she has returned the favor by heaping praise on the former House speaker.
"Newt Gingrich again, I think, did the best because he seems to be above a lot of the bickering that goes on," Palin said on Fox News after a Republican debate in Las Vegas last month, adding that Gingrich would clobber President Obama in a general election debate.

Sarah Palin is a real conservative, and she recognizes that America is a humane nation with humane people. We have had big hearts...and that sometimes despite our tendency to shoot with the mouth sometimes before we really think out way through something.
Here’s the real truth. Anchor baby citizenship.
Those immigrants who’ve been here for a while, and who have had children and grandchildren here are not going to be separated from those families. It just isn’t going to happen. They could stay here on contantly renewed visitor visas ‘til the cows come home.
And the children can’t have their citizenship revoked. Whether or not you agree with the anchor baby laws, even IF they were some day changed, they could not BY THE CONSTITUTION apply to those who already were citizens by the anchor rules. The US Constitution prohibits ex post facto laws.
So, reality is that most illegals now have blood ties to this country. They are not going anyplace.
What makes sense is giving them some kind of guest worker visa.
You would then be given temporary guest worker status pending a criminal background check that you would pay for. You must sign a statement indicating that you will not apply for or receive any government assistance and that any felony or crime which can be charged as a felony will be immediate grounds for deportation. After you clear everything then you would be given a more permanent immigration status, something less than "permanent resident" and you would never be eligible for Citizenship.
If it is found that you have committed a felony while in the US, you will be deported using the application fee as your plane or bus fare to the border.
There are those who would call this "Amnesty".
I'm still waiting for one of the front-runners in this presidential race to follow her lead.
I see no reason for the original illegal family members not to pay a stiff price. However, there is no way to make an anchor baby pay. Also, those minor children brought by their parents are not nearly as culpable as the parents.
They do not belong here, and the reason they're birthed here is in order to anchor their parents-and their extended family-to the United States in perpetuity.
Hence, the term "anchor baby." This is why the open borders crowd tried to make Elvira Arellano into their poster-child, despite the fact that she had children AFTER being deported once from this country.
It's also why the DREAM Act is being used as the stalking horse for wholesale amnesty.
I was for SB1070 too. That doesn't mean that I or Sarah Palin are in favor of deporting 12 million people. All SB1070 does is to allow the State to identify illegal aliens and turn them over to the Feds. The Feds are just going to release them anyway. The problem is that we have not enforced our immigration laws for the last 50 years. We have created an untenable problem by refusing to enforce the laws. A law that is not enforced is not a law at all.
Now show me where Sarah Palin has backtracked on her statement that undocumented immigrants (that's what she called them) should be given a path to citizenship (something Newt has specifically suggested should not be done).
On this issue Newt is to the right of Palin.
Since anchor babies are already a reality and part of our law....Governor Bobby Jindal is an anchor baby...there is no deporting of the parents of a US citizen baby that is going to take place.
That baby is considered a full-fledged, 100% American citizen by the law.
That is never going to change for that child.

His parents were here legally when he was born. The term "anchor baby" refers to a child of illegals.
She’s not dumb enough to play second fiddle with a rino again.
Yes. REALLY!
I don’t need 100% I need 80% Newt is not even close. Love his new amnesty plan. Straight out of the rino handbook.
You make yourself sound like writers at the Daily Beast.
With the exception of a brief chapter in To Renew America, which was written over a decade and a half ago, there's nothing to indicate that Newt Gingrich would do anything but continue the open borders policy we've had since the Carter administration.
Even in the supposedly damning interview with Bill O'Reilly, which people use to imply she's as bad as Gingrich, Perry, Huntsmann, et al., her stance supercedes anything being offered now, with the possible exceptions of Cain and Bachmann.
-She completely rules out amnesty.
-She unreservedly comdemns the 1986 ICRA, i.e. Simpson-Mazzoli.
-She calls for the registration of all aliens, not to fast track them to citizenship but to identify security risks.
She calls for the militarization of the border.
And she does not even entertain the specious open borders assumption that we should focus on regularizing the "11-12 million" IAs.
Sorry, but Jindal is an anchor baby. He was born while his parents were on student visas intending to return to their home country and still full-fledged citizens of that country.
That makes him an anchor baby.
I agree.
Sarcasm doesn’t warrant an answer.
Before the election.
Thank you. I had never seen that. Newt, with all his faults, is the only guy who can stand up to our enemies, both here and abroad.
Only a man would say something so stupid and stereotypical. I think Pailin is gorgeous and I think Michelle Bachman is beautiful. It has nothing to do with the fact I do not believe either of them belong in the White House right now, although Michelle Bachmann has really held her own and has shown herself quite knowledgable, much more that Palin has.
Something tells me Sarah will not have a problem with Newt on immigration.
