The man says what he means.
I don’t want to relive that meltdown. Maybe I should not have used the term “conservative” to describe those who challenged him. The worst of the turmoil was happening during the Clinton impeachment time, and Newt took a lot of heat for allowing the House managers to proceed. It was a rough time as I recall the 2-day Speakership of Bob Livingston.
This reminds me of the "reasonable" plan to achieve "peace" in the middle east. If I remember, the "road map to peace" plan that the Bush adminstration endorsed and continually touted had three steps:
1) End to Palestinian violence. Palestinians recongize Israel's right to exist and undergo political reform.
2) Establishment of an independent Palestinian state with provisional borders. Withdrawl of Israel from Palestinian "territories"
3) Permanent status agreement and end of conflict; agreement on final borders, clarification of the highly controversial question of the fate of Jerusalem, refugees and settlements
The "roadmap" never went anywhere because they've never accomplished step #1 over the last 60 years. But after failing to get past step #1, U.S. politicians say that's OK, let's start working on step #2 and #3 now.
Ditto with the "reasonable" plan to "reform" immigration. The three steps:
1) Control the border - shut the door.
2) Guest Worker program.
3) Review Board to review the illegals that are here and provide a "path to citizenship" for the "law abiding" ones. (whatever that means)
Once elected, step #1 is never implimented and hasn't been since the last immigration "reform" in 1965. So the polticians decide to move on to step #2 and #3 when illegal aliens are still flooding into our nation.
Heres the deal. Newt. You close the borders. You put a heavy civil and criminal penalty on companies that hiore illegals.
You get rid of the social give aways for illegals.
Then you tell the ones who elect to try and stay after all of that...because doing those things will cause a majority of them to self deport...that they have 90 days to turn themselves in, to identify themselves. if they do so, we will deport them and allow them to apply for visas or citizenship through the normal channels (unless they are found to be criminals or enemies).
After the 90 days, they will be crinimally sought out, found, prosecuted and deported with a lifetime ban on any vissa or immigration to this country.
Then, we use our full law enforcement powers to go after the criminal drug dealers and other hardened criminals whom we show no mercy to.
Once we do all of that, then we can look at adding a potential workers program to our legal visa and immigration policy that allows them to come here for jobs that are offered to American citizens first, which if they get are limited to a maximum of 12 or 24 months withput bringing theior families and with no amnetsy or pathway to citizenship...though with the work visas we already have, their may not be a need fo it.
Thats not heartless, thats just defending the soveriegnty of our Republic.
That is straightforward, commonsense wisdom! Wish we had a candidate with that policy.
Does anyone in DC know or care that America is a sovereign nation? Life is too good in DC for these degenerates. Newt has become very rich as a lobbyist so he is deep in the game
Thank you so much for posting this from first-hand experience. Unfortunately, it parallels what I've seen as well. Due to proximity to the homeland, many Mexicans treat America as nothing more than an ATM machine. We're the suckers that provide a steady flow of quick cash that goes back to the country they truly love.
I have to add that I am still angry about what I saw last September 11 for the Tenth Anniversary of the Muslim attack on America. Throughout my neighborhood, American flags were flown in tribute to honor the victims and to show pride in our great country. In the Mexican neighborhoods, I saw not one evidence of Old Glory. Yet the Mexican-owned car lots and grocery stores had the flag of Mexico flying. And these are the legal citizens!
You implement a prgram designed from the outset to get the vast majoprity of them to self deport...then you concentrate on the ones who remain.
My guess is we could have a program where upwards of 80% go home.
Of the remaining 2.4 million, some percentage will be people who have been here a long time or with other, non-criminal ties whom we can locate and deport.
The hardened criminals we are going to have to seriously go after in any case...and they should be made abject examples of when located.
“Im voting for Michelle........enough is enough. Yall argue and fuss but Im done.”
I feel exactly the same way. As far as I’m concerned, she is the ONLY real conservative in the race, yet everyone seems to just skim right over her. If people want a TRUE conservative, it’s quite obvious who walks the walk.
I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people whove been here for a quarter of a century [and] separate them from their families and expel them, Gingrich said during a discussion about illegal immigration and border security. I do believe we should control the border. I do believe we should have very severe penalties.
It’s why they call us, “The Stupid Party”.
Newt, it’s 2011. There are no more investment banks, the Euro’s going to fail soon, Iran has the bomb, and gay is the new Black. Yes, yes we would now at this late date be so ‘heartless’ as to tell people here illegally that it is time to go back home.
Can you not see that we’ve had enough.
He’s an IDIOT. Back to Nan to update his advertisement with the rest of the ‘Global Warming Warriors’.
As far as separating families goes...those who came here illegally separated themselves from their community in Mexico. They had parents, friends, churches, communities and ties THERE, but they chose to cut those ties. They have done that once, they can do it again and it isn’t any more cruel. Let them take the benefits of what they have learned while here and go BACK home to their ties and families that they left behind and use the American experience to enrich and improve Mexico.
Good point.
Just Google: Rick Perry E-Verify, and you'll find your answer.
I’m sure everyone will be ‘satisfied’ with Romney...because that sure looks like the path we’re heading to.
You could also add the Chinese to that list; and the time period this occurred covered much of the 19th Century as well; but, there were a key differences ...all the aforementioned ethnic groups came here legally and they did not ask for, expect, or receive, public assistance.
Newt’s so very wrong. Most of us want them all out with their anchor babies in tow.
They may be legal citizens, but their allegiance is still to Mexico. It will always be this way, because they have no desire to become assimilated and culturally American.
Culturally these citizens don’t want to become Americans. This is Norte America to them, not the United States of America. There IS a distinction in this strongly-held belief. They don’t believe in our sovereignty. They can’t. They’ve weren’t raised to respect it.
The border is an arbitrary line that Mexicans will risk their lives to illegally cross over all for the American dollar. They see America and they only see money, because nothing else matters to them.
If I grew up in their poverty and oppressive system, I’d probably be in agreement.
I won’t vote for ANY candidate that puts illgeals in for amnesty of any kind. I want the F’ers out of here.
Well I hope his silly comments on illageals puts a stop to that.
You just knew it was coming.Tell the truth, you just knew it.LOL Great pic.
