Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
The proponents of amnesty are wont to create the false choice between a blanket amnesty and mass deportation of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. In reality, we have other choices and alternatives that dont reward people who have broken our laws with the right to stay and work here and an eventual path to citizenship. The 12 to 20 million illegal aliens did not enter this country overnight and they will not leave overnight. Attrition through enforcement works. We have empirical data from Georgia, Oklahoma, and Arizona proving that it does.
More and more states are looking for legislation to deport illegals. They should have thought about breaking the law 25 years ago and stayed in Mexico.
Call me heartless - We have immigrations laws. Enforce them. These illegals are costing us Billions of tax payer dollars to support them and they just keep multiply.
How can Rick Perry's policies on illegal differ from Newt's?
Rick Perry is supporting tuition for at least second generation illegals. That says their families had to be here at least 20 years ago!
Wow, Ron Paul in solidarity with the Taliban.
How can any military member support this JERK?!
Most questions by far, Paul.
Least by far : Cain.
How many ways is Santorum going to say Islamist tonight?
Is La Mist?
Thank you for that post. That is what I understood of what he said.
Did Paul just sympathize with the Taliban?
Why? We can buy it from Canada but Obama is shutting it down!
We can drill here but Obama is shutting it down!
OMG. Flakeman stands up for the Taliban?!?!!
)!@(#!@)#(!)@!!!!!
Perry: China is heading to the ash heap!
Finally, I got here. Been making candy for early Turkey Day tomorrow.
Good and bad answers from all.
Stop blank checks to P’stan.
Secure borders. Enough with incentives, cough, Perry.
ME nukes.
We need to support Israel.
China intel.
This is by far the worst debate. All the candidates are just do blsh tonight. Glad to see Bachmann take Newt to task on immigration, but sadly, too little, too late from her.
Gotta agree with Ron Paul on one thing:
I’d love to get the people who “occupy our country” the hell out!
Newt is to the right of Cain and Perry on immigration. Only Bachmann is to his right.
Yes, Ron Paul thinks the Taliban are just nice people who want to get occupiers out of their country.
Cain blew nothing on Syria. It’s Freepers here, mostly the same handful whose life’s work is jumping on everything he says, that need to bone up on facts. The US government has used banning of Syrian oil imports as threats and sanctions. So obviously Syria produces enough oil for that to be a relevant issue and a viable way to punish Syria. And obviously a president or presidential candidate would find that relevant. But then Cain is a bumbling idiot what does he know compared to the hit squads here who treat facts like genital warts.
“With the sweeping sanctions it has imposed on Syrias energy sector, the Obama administration has stepped up its efforts to isolate Bashar al-Assads regime, which earns as much as one-third of its income from oil exports.
The measures certainly look punitive Washington has prohibited any Syrian petrol products from being imported into the US, and has forbidden any US citizens and companies from involvement in Syrias oil sector or exporting any products to Syria.”
Bachmann and Cain stated they oppose a path to legal status for illegal aliens.
