Herman Cain submits to New Hampshire Union Leader demands
Politico ^ | 11/21/11 | Alexander Burns

Cain will sit for an hourlong taped interview with the Union Leader, publisher Joe McQuaid announced on Twitter on Monday...

Just last week, Cain backed out of a Union Leader interview because the paper insisted on a 60-minute, on-camera sit-down, as opposed to the 20-minute, camera-free conversation Cain hoped for. The newspaper blistered Cain in a Monday missive titled, “Recording Cain: What’s he afraid of?”

McQuaid told POLITICO’s Reid Epstein that Cain’s spokesman “called me up this morning and wondered if they could come in one day next week for an hour-long interview and have C-SPAN there.”

One would not grant an interview to a hot, stinking, steaming pile of Obamastuff. So why is Herman granting an interview to a hot, stinking, steaming pile of unionstuff?

I bet it's the same reason he appeared on a hot stinking steaming pile of letterman!

So who was supposed to be recording the interview before Mr. Cain backed out? Anyone know?

Was it C-SPAN?

If not, then maybe that's why Mr. Cain would first turn down an hour long on camera interview, and then call back asking for one to be on C-SPAN. Because with C-SPAN, you would think it wouldn't be cut, snipped, and edited to trash Mr. Cain.

quote “I’ll tell you what he’s afraid of. He’s afraid of selective editing of 60 minutes worth of tape to find about 10 seconds of one or two quotes that can be taken out of context and twisted to portray him in the worst possible light.”

BINGO!

Cain walks out of an outhouse and tells his partner that he his wallet had fallen to the bottom. His parter recommends that they try to fish it out.

Cain says it isn’t worth the trouble, because it only had a couple of bucks in it and “I don’t want to get crap all over me”.

Ten minutes later, Cain walks back into the outhouse and tosses his lunch down the hole. His parter asks him why in the heck he would do such a stupid thing.

Cain explains, “Well, NOW it’s worth going down there”.

Yet the Cain defenders are still on the other thread defending his original dopey, indefensible position on this.

And questioning the propriety of a newspaper using videotape, too. Taping has been employed for decades, as a method of verifying statements. Video is even more informative. But videotape Cain? Oh, the horror.

Don’t worry. I’m sure all the people who told you how brilliant Cain was for rejecting this request will now show up to tell you how brilliant Cain is for accepting the request.

One thing is certain — whatever Cain says or does, it is brilliant. Even if it is exactly the opposite of what he said or did yesterday, or exactly the opposite of what we all stood for last week.

<"C-SPAN."

Wrong! The story's been updated. I just went to the article and it say's :

UPDATE II: A correction — McQuaid also clarifies that the Union Leader's original demand was only that the interview be 60 minutes long, not that it also be on camera. Though other candidates have appeared before the Union Leader on C-SPAN.

so many conservatives suddenly see ignorance as a mark of "authenticity".

Well you know, people who know what they are doing are the cause of most of the problems in this country -- like that leaky faucet of yours, or the brakes going bad on your car, and how bad your hair looked after your last cut.

Obviously, the solution is to reject anybody who knows anything, and have rank amateurs do everything for us. I mean, it's perfectly logical: "Professional fixed my brakes; brakes weren't fixed right; therefore, professionals can't be trusted to fix my brakes".

Anyway, if you love a candidate, and their selling point is that they never served in elective office, what choice to you have but to argue that ignorance is bliss?

How does implementing an entirely new national sales tax, which will require all new rules and regulations, and require every single company in the country to go through a whole new process of collecting and reporting their tax, do anything to “get rid of” the federal agency in charge of implementing and collecting taxes?

It seems we are giving them MORE things to do, not less.

The video for this interview, which all the candidates are doing, was for C-SPAN. I don’t know if C-SPAN was DOING the taping before.

It was a “nice, but pathetic, try” by his campaign to word the “request” to make it sound like Cain was the one asking for a longer interview and a C-SPAN broadcast, when that was the original plan he had rejected.

The word “demand” is pretty harsh as well, since really it was just what they requested. When Cain said he wouldn’t do the interview unless it was 20 minutes long and there was no videotape at all, the paper agreed to drop the video, but still wanted a 1-hour interview, since that was how long all the interviews were. Cain then blew off the interview altogether.

So to say there was a “demand” is a bit much. It was just an interview — papers don’t “demand” that candidates do interviews, candidates usually LOVE to do these to get their message out. And up until last week, candidates loved getting the full interviews taped and on C-SPAN, so the paper wouldn’t be “demanding” that either.

No more filing income tax. No more audits. No more fear of the government coming after you if you make a mistake on a form. No more court fights, no paying lawyers to fight for you.

I believe you are correct, if you have a cspan tape, and they (Union)cut their tape to trash HC, he can show the entire cut instead of the selective prostitution of News.

I think some of these HC haters need to get a testosterone implant, they sound like jealous, bitchy schoolgirls. I am waiting for them to try and spit at him and pull his hair while stamping their clodhopper feet.
