Cain will sit for an hourlong taped interview with the Union Leader, publisher Joe McQuaid announced on Twitter on Monday...
Just last week, Cain backed out of a Union Leader interview because the paper insisted on a 60-minute, on-camera sit-down, as opposed to the 20-minute, camera-free conversation Cain hoped for. The newspaper blistered Cain in a Monday missive titled, Recording Cain: Whats he afraid of?
McQuaid told POLITICOs Reid Epstein that Cains spokesman called me up this morning and wondered if they could come in one day next week for an hour-long interview and have C-SPAN there.

Good grief - the semantics - SUBMIT?????????????
Why not acquiesed’ or ‘agreed to’ or ‘plans to’ or ‘arranges to’??????????????????????????
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhhhhhh
One would not grant an interview to a hot, stinking, steaming pile of Obamastuff.
So why is Herman granting an interview to a hot, stinking, steaming pile of unionstuff?
Hey, Politico, how about you actually try a more journalistic title like, “GOP Presidential candidate, Herman Cain, to be interviewed by the Union Leader?”
or...”GOP’s Herman Cain agrees to Union Leader hour-long interview?”
Jeez, you people there are so transparently biased...but that’s nothing new.
Bad choice. I hope these Romney-loving rats don’t use it against him.
Cain: On second thought. Maybe that wasn’t such a smart move after all.
Yeah, like they will air an hour long interview. The only reason they want an hour on tape is to get enough material to splice together a couple of 15 second hit pieces.
I’ll tell you what he’s afraid of. He’s afraid of selective editing of 60 minutes worth of tape to find about 10 seconds of one or two quotes that can be taken out of context and twisted to portray him in the worst possible light.
Stupid choice. I love Cain but he makes a lot of bad decisions. How could this interview possibly help him? This is Palin/Couric all over again.
LOL. Yet the Cain defenders are still on the other thread defending his original dopey, indefensible position on this. Nevermind that Cain was obviously going to be forced to back down because not even conservative media would have let him get away with this.
I am still trying to figure out why so many conservatives suddenly see ignorance as a mark of "authenticity". Cain flat out doesn't know what he is talking about on half the issues, yet some people are willing to give him a pass on it as if knowledge was somehow unimportant.
Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
Oh ye of little faith.
Let’s hope he asks for a list of topics to be covered.
Of course, a Democrat would be asked what topics he/she would like to discuss.
I agree. This is a really bad decision. The entire interview will consist of gotcha questions and no matter what Cain answers it will be misconstrued and widely broadcast. This is a lose-lose endeavor.
Not good, Herman
If you will cave to the demands of a bunch of whiny dead tree newspaper brats, how are you gonna stand up to the Dems in Congress? Or the ChiComs?
Cain changes his mind more often than I change my socks.
I hate this about Cain. He makes a decision or statement and defends it, then he ends up backtracking. It looks weak.
The Union-Leader hasn’t had any credibility since the Loebs ran it.
LOL... he will soon have a ‘third’ thought, maybe even a fourth’.
The winds, they are a changin’.
LOL! You just nailed it, the less their candidate knows, the more of an “outsider” they are, which translates into, “Not for sale” and “Can’t be bought” and “Not a RINO” and what ever catchy Populist phrase you can dream up that is limited to one sentence.
That’s because his plan is to guess his way to the top.
