Cain: On second thought. Maybe that wasn’t such a smart move after all.

LOL. Yet the Cain defenders are still on the other thread defending his original dopey, indefensible position on this. Nevermind that Cain was obviously going to be forced to back down because not even conservative media would have let him get away with this.

I am still trying to figure out why so many conservatives suddenly see ignorance as a mark of "authenticity". Cain flat out doesn't know what he is talking about on half the issues, yet some people are willing to give him a pass on it as if knowledge was somehow unimportant.

LOL! You just nailed it, the less their candidate knows, the more of an “outsider” they are, which translates into, “Not for sale” and “Can’t be bought” and “Not a RINO” and what ever catchy Populist phrase you can dream up that is limited to one sentence.

And questioning the propriety of a newspaper using videotape, too. Taping has been employed for decades, as a method of verifying statements. Video is even more informative. But videotape Cain? Oh, the horror.

so many conservatives suddenly see ignorance as a mark of "authenticity".

Well you know, people who know what they are doing are the cause of most of the problems in this country -- like that leaky faucet of yours, or the brakes going bad on your car, and how bad your hair looked after your last cut.

Obviously, the solution is to reject anybody who knows anything, and have rank amateurs do everything for us. I mean, it's perfectly logical: "Professional fixed my brakes; brakes weren't fixed right; therefore, professionals can't be trusted to fix my brakes".

Anyway, if you love a candidate, and their selling point is that they never served in elective office, what choice to you have but to argue that ignorance is bliss?

Free Republic is no longer an adult, conservative site we all knew and loved. Does Jim Robinson know that Cain articles are being pulled or buried? Why are outright rude and mean spirited replies permitted now? The liberal mob mentality e taking o0ver.

My theory is---Cain is a blank slate ... has no record. His supporters are projecting onto him how they want him to be, over-looking his short comings.

Sound familiar?
