Wrong! The story's been updated. I just went to the article and it say's :
UPDATE II: A correction McQuaid also clarifies that the Union Leader's original demand was only that the interview be 60 minutes long, not that it also be on camera. Though other candidates have appeared before the Union Leader on C-SPAN.
The word “demand” is pretty harsh as well, since really it was just what they requested. When Cain said he wouldn’t do the interview unless it was 20 minutes long and there was no videotape at all, the paper agreed to drop the video, but still wanted a 1-hour interview, since that was how long all the interviews were. Cain then blew off the interview altogether.
So to say there was a “demand” is a bit much. It was just an interview — papers don’t “demand” that candidates do interviews, candidates usually LOVE to do these to get their message out. And up until last week, candidates loved getting the full interviews taped and on C-SPAN, so the paper wouldn’t be “demanding” that either.
