Boos for first lady Michelle Obama were heard amid the roar of engines before the start of the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The boos could be heard as Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, were saying, "Gentlemen, start your engines" to begin the race Sunday, the South Florida Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale reported.
Obama and Biden, grand marshals for the race, were invited to NASCAR's final event of the season to bring awareness to their Joining Forces initiative, which supports military families.
The women had addressed the drivers at a meeting before presiding over the ceremonial starting of the engines.
"I know this is a big day for all of you so we're not going to take up your time because you need to be focused," Obama told the drivers. "We just wanted to stop by and say thank you. NASCAR has just been amazing in terms of its support not just today, but every day, of military families."

I wouldn’t want to be the political aide who thought this was a good idea.
Surprisingly, more of the NASCAR crowd didn’t boo the bitch for using them for political gain. Moochelle hates these people and they should see that very clearly.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
They should have sent the real POTUS; Jarrett!
Gotta love the Rats. Support military famines and block military votes. ugh.
be sure to look at the pictures on this thread of Shelly during the playing of the national anthem. Someone has put them together in a picture. I need to find that graphic because it should be posted and posted over and over again.

Did you do a search using the title only? I research any article by the title before posting. If you got a multitude of stories on the booing incident it would seem I’m not researching the subject matter as thoroughly as I should and from now on will also use keywords for a more expansive search. Thank you for your comments.
Another good reason to take up NASCAR
um that’s families not famines. stupid smartphone.
Southern folks don’t her around anyhow.
I've been on and off and on again with Stewart. 1) He's from IN about 30 minutes from me and still has the house he grew up in. 2) He went through a bombastic "where are his meds" time early in his career. 3) Could drive a bathtub if you could get wheels on it. 4) Is pure competitor
It was a great finish for the Championship this year. I was torn between Tony and Carl. I'm glad Tony won as an owner. But Carl really deserves a championship too.
I hope the racing gets better next year or I'll have to become a full time IRL fan and part time NASCAR fan.
yep!
It is sad that the FLOTUS gets booed, but she has no one to blame but herself. I can’t think of a single thing that I would praise her for. Not one. Even when she tries to do something right, like childhood obesity issues, she turns out to be a hypocrite and loses any goodwill she might have gained. She seems to revel in stirring people up.
Well, It not really a “Free Rebublic” then is it? Noticed this last night when this topic got pulled several times!
Hmmm, this can’t be too much of a surprise. If it was done for political reasons to court the NASCAR vote, it was obviously stupid. BUT, if it was done to court the “anti-NASCAR” vote, those who might consider such venues racist, maybe it explains Moochelle’s big smile.
[Just sit on your hands.]
These hands were not meant for sitting upon besides how am I supposed obey orders to ‘eat my peas’?
You can sit on your hands if you like but it may make ‘turning the other cheek’ harder for you.
ROFL! Nobody deserves to be booed more than “for the first time in my adult life” “in your ignorance; that’s America” Mooooooochelle! What a communist whitey-hater.
Heard it!
Rolling into the mostly conservative world of NASCAR and expecting a differnet outcome is defined as insanity! Why didn’t they do this at the Chicago race(s)? I think the reaction would have been the same....anywhere NASCAR races.
