Just days after being confronted by a conservative blogger over his supposed net worth, filmmaker Michael Moore took similar questions from a local CBS reporter at the Occupy Denver protest, with markedly different results. Rather than ignore CBS-4 reporter Evrod Cassimy, Moore engaged him. When Cassimy brought up Moores rumored $50 million net worth, though, Moore called him punk media, pulled him close, and growled, You lie!
The confrontation made for much better video than the previous one, and Moore initially handled the reporters questions well, admitting, I do very well, and adding, Because I do well, I want taxes raised on people who do well, including mine.
When Cassimy pressed Moore about his specific net worth, however, Moore became visibly angry. He told the reporter, I dont have $50 million, and Cassimy gave Moore an opening, saying, Thats what its rumored you are worth.
Well, really Moore said, Is that what you do is sell rumors?
Were asking you for the truth, Cassimy replied.
Moore then put his hand on the reporters shoulder, shaking him as he said, Youre just punk media is all you are.
You lie, he continued, a slight growl in his voice. You lie to people. Stop lying to people. Stop lying.
Mr. Cassimy left himself open for Moores criticism by citing rumors, rather than reports, but Michael Moore really ought to do better at engaging this question. Hes got compelling answers, and even though the premise itself is silly, confronting it head on is a surer way to gain converts than scenes like this, which make it appear as though critics of Moores wealth have got his number.
There are lots of mega-bucks celebrities who have shown up to support the Occupy protests, and recent polls show that most millionaires support raising taxes on millionaires. You can, apparently, be rich and believe in fairness, simultaneously. Moore can, and does, also argue that he takes his earnings and puts them back into making more films. His wealth, then, is a tool to combat wealth inequality.
Most bullies are thin-skinned.
Yet he refuses to state his real net worth.
The angst of Liberals.
The fat pig made a career of dishing it out but, like all leftie hypocrites, he can’t take it.
Michael Moore is a larger than life icon to some liberals. Yet he personifies much of what they oppose. He is extremely wealthy. He is rumored to use non-union labor in his movie projects. He is rumored to not give his employees good pay and benefits. He is rumored to aggressively seek out tax breaks from the localities in which he is making movies. He has quite a few things to answer for in his own business practices, and his own wealth.
I don’t begrudge anything he has legally done from tax breaks to making movies which touch a chord with liberal people who go see them. But Michael Moore is among that “evil 1%” we keep hearing about.
Michael even has a beautiful vacation home on a lakefront in Michigan. Wonder what his carbon footprint is there.
He makes my skin crawl.
Some folks use their wealth to divide the pie up equally while others use their wealth and make a bigger pie for everyone to share.
People will do better with a small share of a huge pie than with an equal share of nothing.
Seems that Mikey is feeling a little stressed with the attention.
Limosine liberals have been getting a pass from the MSM for decades.
Another angst of Liberals is, They put the money in fat mikeys wallet.
Conservatives will have nothing to do with the slob
> Michael Moore is a larger than life icon to some liberals.
larger than life? maybe larger than a hippo. much larger.

This is pathetic, If that fat-ass touches me his balls will be shoved into his bladder.
Mr Fathead would make my day if he ever put his hands on me in anger. Really
Instead of confronting Moore, these reporters should just walk around with a bullhorn saying “hey everybody, see that fat slob over there?...”, then watch the fur fly.
Hmmmmm.
He doesnt like what he dishes out.
Hope that it is a sign to dish it and often.
A better question that doesn’t involve asking what isn’t anyone else’s business is why doesn’t Moore simply donate to the IRS?
