I have learned to live with trash, said fifth-generation Arizona rancher Jim Chilton. He saw his once-beautiful ranch, just a few miles from the border with Mexico, is now dotted with clusters of crushed trees and cactus, whole hillsides have been turned into charred eyesores, years worth of his award-winning conservation projects obliterated and the whole thing is littered with trash, tons and tons of trash. And some of the trash was dead bodies.
Chilton had the misfortune of settling in the path of what would become a dangerous drug- and human-smuggling route on the U.S.-Mexican border, parallel with the notorious Peck Canyon Corridor.
Ive got 30,000 to 40,000 illegal aliens coming right through the ranch every year, and the Forest Service says each one leaves about eight pounds of trash. That means 100 tons of trash. Some cows eat the plastic bags and about 10 head a year die a slow and painful death. At $1,200 a head, that means we lose $12,000 a year to trash.
Chilton saw southern Arizona not as the headline-grabbing political flashpoint of the Justice Departments failed Fast and Furious guns-to-smugglers tracking project, but as the land-grabbing opportunism of Obamas resource management agencies and, sadly, the failure of the U.S. Border Patrol to secure that bloody line separating the United States from Mexico.
The land-grabbing chapter of the trash story has gone largely unnoticed, but surfaced last year when the Bureau of Land Management proposed to shut down target shooting on 490,000 acres in the Sonoran Desert National Monument and in large swaths of other public lands as well.
The reason? Monument manager Richard Hanson claimed shooters were leaving trash at the shooting sites, an outrageously trumped up excuse, but Hansons claim couldnt be refuted at the time.
The BLM had closed 400,000 acres of publicly owned, national monument lands across three states to recreational shooting activities in 2010, labeling recreational shooting as a resource-harming activity and a public safety threat.
That was a clear signal showing that the SDNM move was just another step in Interior Secretary Ken Salazars obnoxious lock-it-up-and-kick-em-out plans that have drawn the ire of Congress.
Arizonas Republican Rep. Jeff Flake plans to introduce the Recreational Shooting Protection Act this week, which will allow for greater congressional oversight over the closures of these target shooting lands.
A government employee stepped forward on condition of anonymity to say, I visited Ironwood National Monument in 2007 with two BLM employees. The place was absolutely devastated by illegals, yet all the BLM men wanted to talk about was the shooting ranges, and find trash that would fit the shooter profile. They were just trying to blame it on gun owners who use the shooting ranges.
The source said that BLMs own documents show they not only know where the trash really comes from, but theyre also the governments official trash tracker. Anyone with Web access can find BLM documents titled, Southern Arizona Project to Mitigate Environmental Damages Resulting From Illegal Immigration. Its an annual compilation of all the illegal alien trash and all of BLMs tracking and cleanup projects.
Even with the flow of illegals slowed by the bad economy, Flake said, Unfortunately, the trash situation is probably going to continue until we can get enough resources and manpower in the Tucson Sector to gain operational control over the border.
Jim Chilton isnt the only one whos learned to live with trash.
I understand the frustration of people who are accustomed to beautiful properties, but the fact is that the damage done in our urban slums teeming with these illegals is much worse. Just imagine what they do when they finally arrive at a destination; they don’t suddenly start using trashcans or washing their hands before preparing meals in reastaurant kitchens...
Ya got love government!
There are some grocery stores in LA where you don’t want to use the shopping carts. Draw your own pictures.
I don’t go into stores in that city or spend money there. I refuse to contribute to that BS, and only go there when I’m paid to.
yep
But how can this be, since we're constantly told that illegals are wonderful people, with family values, and that we should welcome them with open arms, while Americans are the lazy ones who can't go a day without them?
Sarcasm aside, I live in LA and can vouch for what you say.
Where are the environmentalists?
Do you want to tell him Jinx? Be sure to give hime the on CBD.
Yuma has (or did in 2006... I don’t imagine things have changed much) an alternative to flushing toilet paper because of the culture the invaders brought along with them.
Alternative 1. Used by USAmericans is flush it.
Alternative 2. Used by the invaders is toss it in a specially placed waste basket provided by building management.
Alternative 3. Throw it on the floor which is what prompted building management to provide waste baskets in the first place.
A mens room in a grocery store that sticks out in my mind had a number of wads of used TP on the floor in the general area of the waste basket.
I don’t know about LA but the waste basket phenomenon has also been observed in El Paso, TX and mid-town Manhatten.

More attacks on the 2nd Amendment by the FedMob. It is now beyond question that this is a concerted effort to subvert the Constitution.

There was an interesting article in American Thinker or some other conservative website that said a wealthy Liberal gave the Sierra Club over $100MM but they could never mention how illegals trash the border as being an issue.
It was a condition of the huge gift and like most Liberals with no moral moorings, they are pro-open borders and never mention the garbage nightmare.
Take the arrested illegal aliens, have them bag the trash and debris. Then, have them load the bags into choppers and fly the bags of trash above the Mexican border and dump them. .....Eventually, there will be a “border fence” of garbage on the other side of the border!
Unless he's the governor or a former president and their followers....
