"I understand there are places like MSNBC that are essentially the Obama re-election team. But, you know, that's fine. This is a free society.

“One debate and 0 would be flopping around on the stage like a fresh caught trout on a dock.”

Gingrich folds when he debates libs. Watch him concede to John Kerry that urgent action is needed to stop global warming:

FOX is merely ‘nicer’ to Republicans, but MSNBC is practically Obama’s re-election team...unabashedly at that.

Excuse me, it’s taken Newt decades to acknowledge this obvious fact. Please, Newt is part of the problem.

I hope Newt wins the nomination just to be able to watch a debate where zero is totally humiliated.

There is no guarantee that Ubama would debate Newt (or any other candidate) to begin with.

There is no law that says that he has to.

I was watching Chrissy Matthews and CNN yesterday and they were going bananas that Republican’s are using the “american’s got lazy” quote and using it against Obama. They were worked up into a frenzy and saying it was so unfair, and dirty to take that out of context. It was an unbelievable display how they were falling all over themselves for Obama. Michael Steele couldn’t believe the hissy fit Matthews and his panel were having. He tried to contain himself and laughed it off.

Thank you for the link to the essay. Somehow I missed that wise piece.

Of particular accord am I with the following:

And repeatedly -- in every single debate -- it is the now-68-year-old battle-scarred Newt Gingrich who emerges precisely as the battle-scarred Winston Churchill suddenly emerged in 1939 and 1940. Suddenly Republicans -- like frightened and angry British Conservatives before them so many decades ago -- find themselves looking at a man who has been scorned as was Churchill. The "brilliant failure" derided as a "genius without judgment" turns out to be the man of hard earned wisdom with rock hard principles and the best judgment after all. The man once seen as "erratic" is suddenly recognized as the man whose bone-deep understanding of history, strategy and human nature gives him the steely ability to see over the horizon while all around him are essentially blind. And displays the supreme virtue of being unafraid to act.

The man once seen as "erratic" is suddenly recognized as the man whose bone-deep understanding of history, strategy and human nature gives him the steely ability to see over the horizon while all around him are essentially blind. And displays the supreme virtue of being unafraid to act. Indeed, and that's precisely why the enemy --the fourth estate (press/media) serving as the fifth column assassins for the democrat criminal enterprise machine-- must tell any lie and invite all to join in the circular firing squad.

Imagine the left's dilemma: the media thought they had plunged their long knives so deeply into Newt Gingrich that he could not right himself to speak out. Alas, as the enemedia sought to assassinate Herman Cain with lies and sleazy mischaracterizations, Gingrich arose to speak up, at first in Herman's stead and then alongside of him, to now be the more vetted and better prepared for the fight. Cain and Gingrich are friends, so the left is secretly, with dread, stewing over the very real possibility that even if they destroy Cain, Gingrich will step over them to converse with the American people; or, if they should succeed --with the pernicious help of conservative circular clutches shooting each other-- in plunging their long knives in Gingrich, his conservative and very capable friend Herman will pick up the Contract and step over them to enjoin the American people and avoid the European socialist model the deviant media worship.

Because politics is so loathsome to sane and moral people, the only way to enjoy the political season is to relish the utter defeat and rejection of the socialist democrats> For if we do not defeat these slimy anti-American bastards, there will be nothing to relish in hearth and home. They will have aborted our liberties in their godless lust to destroy the notion that we are endowed by our creator not by the putrefactive government of democrats such as Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barry 'Sore toe' Obama.

Hit the nail on the head—Newt has problems but like did Trump a while back—he’s taking the fight to the enemy. keep it up Newt! You can’t go wrong as long as you “Ride to the sound of the guns!” I am starting to warm up to this guy—I still like Cain too.

I was thinking the same thing - about the ability to “like.”

I also wish there was a more direct way to “share” from FR.

I wish Newt would say: “Obama would never withstand the scrutiny that every Republican candidate has to undergo

That would be awesome. Maybe he will read this and say that.

True, but failure to debate would give Newt a TON of ammo and fodder and probably result in a massive public backlash, as debates have become part and parcel of Presidential elections.

While it would violate his Alinsky rules by taking him out of his comfort zone, the court of public opinion pretty much mandates the debates.

Good points. I just don’t want to see us putting all of our eggs in one basket based on “debates”, which are anything but actual debates.

Too damned much at stake with this election. We had best get it right.

This is EXACTLY how politicians need to take on the MSM. The occasional, curt, remark. Obama railed against the Rush Limbaugh, and people blew it off. A subtle, fast hand to the gut can be a better alternative too a baseball bat to the face.

As a former network MSM reporter, trust me, it’s not the entire MSM.

75% perhaps, but not all.
