Today is November 17, the two month anniversary since Occupy Wall Street began. Protestors have declared today to be an International Day of Action, calling for people to "occupy their block," to "shut down Wall Street" starting at 7:00 AM, and to "occupy the subway" starting at 3:00 PM. We have been hearing that protestors, and the NYPD, will be amassing all over the city today, and will be live blogging dispatches from our own Village Voice staff writers Rosie Gray (@_rosiegray) and Nick Pinto (@macfathom), as well as photographer C.S. Muncy (@CSMuncyPhoto), who are on the scene through out lower Manhattan.
5:15 AM: From the anchor desk here in downtown Brooklyn, we hear a helicopter that sounds like it is heading towards Manhattan. Nick sends two pictures: this one appears to be on an NYPD roll call, just north of the Wall Street bull:

You’ll be fine. Just avoid these jokers. I read someone’s comments on another site. He works in another part of the city and said you would never know this protest was going on.

This has been an epic fail today and they’re getting restless I guess.

When I heard the 2004 Republican National Convention would be held in NYC, I thought it would be a great opportunity to volunteer. I hesitated at first, thinking that Manhattan would be a dangerous place to be. Then I changed my mind and volunteered all week...making signs at first then..
On Saturday and Sunday we were taken in vans to the airports to greet delegates. I met one from Illinois who had never been to NYC.
I gave him a tour of NYC on Monday...from 12 noon to 12 midnight. We used the subways, walked around Wall Street, Battery Park, took the ferry to Staten Island, walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, went to Ground Zero, used the PATH to NJ and back, etc.
On Tuesday, he took my daughter and me to the convention at Madison Square Garden, where George W. and family were. What an honor! Anyhow, through all this, we never had any problems. The police had everything under control.

They don’t know what to do. There was suppose to be thousands...now it’s just several hundred. They’ve been evicted from sleeping in the park, they are disorganized, nothing was stopped or shut down including Wall Street.
I’m sure as the day goes on they’ll get more aggressive out of frustration. The dopes.

Your answer is quite vague. What do you mean by treating home owners and small businesses the way they treat you? How are you treated differently than them?

The cops shouls announce over speakers that if anyone goes in the park, they will be arrested.
Then let them go in if they want.
Put good barricades up, bring a lot of cops, and start booking them and throwing them in paddy wagons.
