Rick Perry, conservative hero no longer
WaPo ^ | 11/16/2011 | Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake

When Texas Gov. Rick Perry entered the Republican presidential race in mid-August, he was touted as the candidate conservatives had been waiting for — the antidote to the more country club sort of appeal of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. No longer.

Three months into his campaign, a new Washington Post-ABC News survey reveals that his numbers have not only fallen considerably among self-identified conservative Republicans, but also lag behind Romney and the majority of the other candidates for the GOP nomination.

Among all Republicans, 42 percent view Perry favorably while 38 percent see him in an unfavorable light. Perry’s unfavorable ratings have been ticking rapidly upwards — from 11 percent in September and 24 percent in October — a sign that the more the party gets to know him, the less they like him.

But the trouble for Perry is even more apparent when you drill down to only those who call themselves conservative Republicans — the people who tend to have outsized influence in picking the party’s presidential nominee.

Gov. Perry would be a hero if he accomplished half of what he has proposed.

He said he would use the bully pulpit to shame them into it or encourage Americans to vote them out if they refuse.

Remember his speech in New Orleans, The Left Is "Never Going To Like Us, So Let's Stop Trying To Curry Favor With Them" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnG_njvuoyA

It’s true that it is all talk.
Just like 999.
The difference is that Perry actually has a record of accomplishments on states rights and taxes.
It’s a slow slog but he has spearheaded issues and passed them into law.
Issues like Voter ID, Lower taxes, redistricting, Loser pays tort reform.

When has Cain done anything for states rights? Or reduced government spending?

Hermans 999 is all bluster.

Factoring in the Fox poll, RCP polling average has Gingrich just 1 percentage point behind Romney with Cain in third. Perry has dropped slightly as has Paul. Santorun shares the cellar with Huntsman.

They spend most of their time working deals for themselves.

That graph shows serious problems with our party.

It is swinging wildly while Obama takes a cakewalk.

Your chart does not reflect Ron Pauls meteoric rise ☺

I agree. The graph is the result of the leftist media’s efforts to manipulate candidate ratings. Now they’re going after Newt.

Not to mention the insider trading, the exemption from the FOIA, the keeping their war chest. It’s time to make Congress learn who they work for.

I guess the Paulbots haven't figured out a way to manipulate that one via their standard swarming and spamming technique.

Gotta like that Romney is below his high of 26%. He is down to 21.2% and dropping. How low can he go?

Correctamundo!

The only way Wrong Paul ever sees double digits is if his gaggle of minions spam polls. While not scientifically accurate, these averages do give a more realistic view of where he actually is -- 6.8% and even that I find suspect.

It is interesting to see him sinking when he has received zero heat.

He is coasting it though.

I don’t like folks that think they can coast.

He is just posturing for effect. It works on the state level but states don’t have to deal with world happenings every day and the running of the country. I wish he hadn’t said that as that is just one more thing he couldn’t do.

Cain has followed the same trend line. Newt is next.

The others aren’t even registering.

I have an 8’ high fence that encompasses my business. It’s on a busy highway which makes it very visible to many passersby. Some PaulBot kook keeps attaching his 4’x8’ Ron Paul signs to my fence and does so as fast as I can have them removed. I give the kook an A for effort but an F for practicality. I have his expensive signs in my storage yard and am using them to temporarily shield things from the rain. Tarps would be cheaper but as long as the kook keeps donating his/her expensive signs I’ll keep using them.

Add water and stir the ashes until the fire is dead out.

It's getting close to primary time, mustn't have anyone interfering with the Christening of the USS Mittanic on his maiden voyage against Iceberg Obaama.

Cheers!

“When are they going to write Mittens is in more trouble?”

For example, his trouble with the Boy Scouts:

Mitt Romney supports homo activists in their war against the Boy Scouts.

Starting during the Clinton Administration (does the name Roberta Achtenberg ring a bell?) the Boy Scouts came under relentless fire by the Democrats and their newsrooms for rejecting the idea that they, the Boy Scouts of America, should welcome homosexual scout leaders into the organization and let them take little boys off into the woods. Boy Scouts leaders didn’t think this was such a good idea. Naturally, Massachusetts Mittens sided with the homo activists.

Below are a couple of columns from 10 and 12 years ago about the Boy Scouts being turned away by Mitt Romney and the Olympics Committee for volunteer work on the Salt Lake Olympics. The Boy Scouts had been very active and high profile at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and were looking forward to participating once again. But the Boy Scouts had just won an important Supreme Court case (in June 2000 the Supreme Court ruled that the BSA was a private organization that could choose whoever they wanted as scout leaders and could therefore reject sodomites) and the Democrats/homos were still mighty ticked off about it. Massachusetts Mittens could always be counted on to pander to homo activists, of course, so he gladly came up with a lame lie of an excuse for turning the Boy Scouts away from the Salt Lake Olympics. The Boy Scouts’ disappointment was palpable, and Mitt Romney never returned their calls.
