SAN FRANCISCO --
Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi of Castro Valley was excused from appearing in a San Francisco courtroom Tuesday on charges she stole nearly $2,500 in clothing from Neiman Marcus, and she won't have to show up at her next court date either, a judge said.
Hayashi, a Democrat . . .

Theft. That’s what Democrats do.
Hmmm. Imagine that.
Isn’t her hubby some REALLY IMPORTANT *JUDGE*...?!
Wonder where?
Assistant District Attorney Paul Brennan asked Sandoval to order Hayashi to appear then. The judge appeared poised to do so, but after speaking privately with Brennan and defense attorney Douglas Rappaport, he said Hayashi's appearance next month would be waived as well.
Outside court later, Rappaport said the judge "just wanted to make sure that she wasn't being treated differently than anybody else, and she's not."
It is heartwarming to see how they take care of their own, isn’t it?
Been to a Neiman Marcus once (in Dallas while stationed in Austin Tx, many moons ago) and though it was nice to visit (especially around the Holidays) it was out of my league then and remains so today.
Who wants to wager (a sucker bet, I know) that she gets to "plead it down" to some Misdemeanor and gets off with a find and maybe Community Service???
Hayashi, 45, who has served in the Assembly since 2006 and is married to Alameda Superior Court Judge Dennis Hayashi
Important?
No. Judges are a dime a dozen these days.
altho she kicked in 200K for his re-election from her own campaign coffers.

Hayashi, a former AC Transit board member, served as director of the Office for Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton, and was also director of the state Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Hayashi, whose wife is Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi, D-Hayward, ran unsuccessfully for a judgeship in 2006, losing to Sandra Bean, a deputy county counsel.
It took only two paragraphs to identify her as a DemocRAT.
That’s progress!

You’re being optimistic. The judge will dismiss it as a misunderstanding. Law enforcement and judges do these favors for each other all the time. They don’t even think it’s wrong. Just not tarnishing the profession with embarrassing incidents.
“Hayashi, a Democrat . . .”
Funny how I didn’t hear this on our local nooz.
I guess there just wasn’t enough airtime what with recruiting more bodies for the occupy protest at UC Berkeley. I’m not kidding-our noozpeeps listed an itenerary of the days events as they reported on the plight of the protestors.
I’m assuming they were only trying to help these poor put upon protestors who might be too busy being forcibly moved around to be able to update their facebooks and twitter pages.
But, I digress...
It’s a good thing they identified that. Less than 2/3 of all California legislators are Democrats.
Well when they said she’s from Castro Valley that was as good as saying she was a demorat.
