Newt's Freddie Mac gig (Politico moving on to new target...Newt)

This, from Bloomberg News, is the kind of scrutiny that you draw when you start getting taken seriously as a presidential candidate:

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said during a Nov. 9 debate that he earned a $300,000 fee to advise Freddie Mac as a “historian” who warned that the mortgage company’s business model was “insane.”

Former Freddie Mac officials familiar with the consulting work Gingrich was hired to perform for the company in 2006 tell a different story. They say the former House speaker was asked to build bridges to Capitol Hill Republicans and develop an argument on behalf of the company’s public-private structure that would resonate with conservatives seeking to dismantle it.

If Gingrich concluded that the company’s business model was at risk and that the housing market was a “bubble,” as he said during the debate, he didn’t share those concerns with Richard Syron, Freddie Mac’s chief executive officer ...

But according to liberals, Democrats, and the MSM... Fannie Mae had nothing to do with the subprime crash, so what’s at issue here? /s

I guess they had nothing to say about the Evil Rahm Emmanuel’s stint on the Freddie Mac board, where he made $320,000 in 14-months.

Question begs regardless of polutico or any other news organization trying to tear him down: why was Newt in the first place involved with Freddie Mac? And why was he pimping them as a great business model?......see that’s the problem with Newt, a brilliant man and a good debater who either says or do stupid things and makes you not want to trust him

Alinsky rule—isolate and destroy—and it does seem to be working.

Cain, after the attack, is at 15-20%
Romney and Newt are at 15-20% BEFORE the attack.

Newt6 Gingrich has been involved in more than we ever knew! Last night on Doug Urbanski’s show (which the new owners of the station are shutting down to replace with people like Bill Press) someone called in to ask if Gingrich was responsible for forming the Federal Department of Education, whereupon someone looked it up and, yes indeed, Newt Gingrich did! Let’s see. They are the ones who have dumbed down the public schools, introduced sex ed in the schools, minimized shop and home ec., done nearly completely away with American history, introduced the new math which confused ever kid in class, imposed left wing lies into their little beings, among many other abuses, such as all day school for kindergarteners! New Gingrich did that! Why?

Let the battle be joined. Newt might be an easy target, but he knows how to shoot back. He knew this was coming. He is not unprepared as was the case with Perry and Cain. This will be bloody and I predict the media will take big hits.

Newt will be damaged but he will go down fighting hard.

Paid $300,000 in 2006 by Freddie Mac not for his political influence but to provide his perspective “as a historian,”

Yeah right. So did they give Doris Kearn-Goodwin and Michael Bechloss $300,000 each too? I guess Stephen Ambrose would have gotten a small fotune too had he lived long enough. What a crock. Newt Gingrich is not a real estate historian. Of what possible value is his opinion on such matters? Only a fool doesn't realize it was for lobbying. Newt says it wasn't. But Newt is a proven liar.
