Herman's Just Not Ready (Understatement of the year)
The American Spectator ^ | November 15, 2011 | Ross Kaminsky

Posted on 11/15/2011 6:33:02 AM PST by St. Louis Conservative

Herman Cain is theoretically a great candidate for president. He's a smart, black, successful, conservative "outsider." But as the reality sets in, it's clear that Mr. Cain is barely more ready for the office he seeks than Sarah Palin (or Barack Obama) was four years ago. Cain's performance in a long interview on Monday crystallized this view which has been forming in the minds of many GOP voters in recent weeks.

Mr. Cain's responses in Saturday's Republican debate in South Carolina -- which focused on foreign policy -- were a bunch of platitudes about getting good advice before making a decision. Frequently, his answers on topics that he doesn't really know much about focus on a few points of process, on getting quality advice, on not needing to know everything in advance, and so on.

But this is the real world and these are dangerous times. While the 2012 election will primarily be about jobs and the economy, events across the Arab world and escalating tensions between Iran and Israel -- not least because of the IAEA's most recent report about advances in Iran's nuclear weapon program -- make foreign policy and national security expertise critically important in our next president.

If there is anything America has been reminded of by Barack Obama, it's that the presidency is no place for on-the-job training -- and it's even less so when potential nuclear conflict is involved.

Herman Cain gave an interview to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on Monday in which his answers on questions about Libya -- and his further discussion with the newspaper's editors on broader foreign policy issues -- sounded like a student trying hard to remember the answers for a test he's been cramming for.

I’m a Cain supporter and donor. I am very disappointed by this turn of events. He didn’t come off well and we risk him losing to the worst president in our history. Foreign policy will be the subject of the DC debate in a week. We shall see if Cain can develop foreign policy chops by then.

Then say hello to “Four More Years” because Obama will crush their guy like a bug.

I’m done with the election for POTUS. It’s all about the Senate noW.

Your not a St. Louis conservative, you sound more like a St. Louis RINO. Every time the media plays gotcha, people like you jump. Why would Libya be on the top of Cain’s mind? They did the same thing with Bush and naming world leaders name.

In reality, it will be more like if he can talk as if he’s developed foreign policy chops. I don’t really think anyone can develop actual chops in a week, do you?

You will quickly be told that Cain’s performance, minus a SMALL pause, was absolutely brilliant and breathtaking in its scope and depth. Somebody will be very shortly quoting Sun Tzu.

He falls back to a thoroughly biblical principle. Most know that the kind of advisors he will get won’t be anything like Obama’s czars either.

Darn it, we look like we got a candidate here who won’t shoot from the hip.

Translation: We'll see if Cain can BS his way out of a paper bag by then.

LOL. Anyone who doesn’t support Cain is a RINO, right??

Cain would lose the presidential election in the biggest landslide since 1988, and we’d very likely lose the house too. He is the worst candidate I’ve seen on the Republican side in decades.

That is exactly why I like him. A leader does not know everything, but they know where to get the info they need when making a decision. It does not matter whether the leader is a business man or a politician.

Carter “knew it all” and look how effective that was.

This must be the second of two identically headed threads going.

However pedestrian or pat Cain’s answer sounds, it does have the virtue of being thoroughly biblical. If Cain said that about absolutely everything we might have to wonder about his philosophy, but he hasn’t been shy about suggesting revolutionary things. But a lot of what Cain would be wise to do about global politics will depend on unanticipated things and how much of a mess Obama has left.

Herman Cain is definitely ready for the Presidency of the United States.

A man who has overcome RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, cancer, poverty, and the corporate world and has worked his way through college and graduate school is ready for anything.

The Democrat Party and its operatives are also ready--FOR A LYNCHING!

Remember: The Democrat Party is the party of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, the KU KLUX KLAN, RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, AND LYNCHING!

In the 21st century, the Democrat Party elected the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, Robert Byrd, to be Democrat Party Majority Leader in the United States Senate!

The Democrat Party has not changed its stripes one iota!

Those thugs are ready all right! FOR A LYNCHING!

These thugs will stop at NOTHING!

Herman Cain is an authentic American hero. He embodies the American Dream.

The willingness of self-serving Democrat Party political thugs to try to destroy him--and to use any means, no matter how vile--merely reveals how vile and indecent the Democrat Party is.

..the wave of unfounded charges did not work. The next tactic is the subtle suggestion that he is not smart enough to be president.

You know what that borders on.

You and the GOP establishment are grossly underestimating this man--and overestimating your own candidates...

I dont agree that he is the worst candidate at all. That being said the Libya interview was very painful to watch and no spin is going to help.

Cain calls to mind another man who was "not ready for prime time" and "not ready for the Presidency: Harry Truman!

He turned out to be one of the greatest Presidents in American History!

Do not buy the vile propaganda of the Democrat Party!
