Police in riot gear surrounded New York City's Zuccotti Park late Tuesday evening, and distributed fliers to the Occupy Wall Street protesters camped out there for weeks ordering them to evacuate the grounds while maintenance is carried out.
CBS News correspondent Randall Pinkston reports the police fliers informed the anti-Wall Street demonstrators that they would be allowed to return to the park after the maintenance was conducted.
The nature of the work, and how long it might take, were unclear.
Live video from the WCBS news helicopter showed police surrounding the park, but there was no confrontation between police or protesters immediately visible....

I would think that would be a good idea, but getting the protesters to cooperate is probably a slim to none chance... Especially now, when we’ve seen drug-resistant TB show up, I think they SHOULD be quarantined and evaluated - especially if they’re infested with fleas, and lice which bring along a host of other diseases as well. It’s rather frightening to deal with a ‘camp’ in modern times that might as well have been a Civil War camp when it comes to sanitation and disease conditions. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t been worse than what’s being reported already — then again I’m not under the impression that we’ve been told everything that has happened at these places, either.
This whole OWS movement stinks of Alinsky which stinks of Obama. I still say it is his plan for his surrogates to gin up violence and blame it on the Tea Party.
This is just a dry run. There will be blood in the streets this summer. In every city in the country.
And Obama vacay’s in Hawaai with his fat ass wife going to gardens and farms promoting healthy food as she pigs out like a pig when the cameras are off.

What right do the police have to tell the “protestors” they can return to the park?
Isn’t the park private property? It should be up to the landowner.
Meanwhile, businesses near the park have lost $500,000 in business since this nonsense began.

I feel like going down there and engaging with them mano a mano - but probably not a great idea for a 59-year-old woman - I do have some purple Doc Martens that could cause some damage with a well-placed kick, though!!!

Why have so many major cities turned on the Occupiers?
The liberal mayors/leaders of Oakland, Portland, New York City and other cities, this week have decided that the Occupier/scumbags are not welcome. Across the nation liberal mayors have sent in cops in their cities , to move the scumbags out of their encampments and tear down their encampments.
So what has happened and why this week?
Did the mayors finally wake and realized that these scumbags were not the 99% of he/she/its in white hats?
Did the merchants in the impacted areas finally convince the mayors that their businesses were being devastated and would not have a lot of sales tax $‘s to give to the cities due to their lost business?
Did the mayors finally listen to Public Health Doctors/Nurses and others that these encampments were huge germ/virus pools that could threaten large sections of the city’s population not involved?
Did the daily rapes/murders/robberies/fights in the encampments finally wake up the mayors?
Did the mayors fear a massive backlash from independent and working democrat voters in their cities or even recalls?
There was probably a lot of the above and other factors that influenced the mayors.
How about another factor. Did the DNC run focus groups of working voters in those cities and find out that the Occupier scumbags in each city were probably costing the Democrats votes across the nation?
Well, something happened, and it probably was not a coincidence, that this week, the left wing mayors of these liberal cities across America, decided to take out the Occupier Garbage, human and infectious garbage.
