Anyone who saw the debate on Saturday night and observed Herman Cains performance clearly saw a man who was terrified of the questions he was being asked and was hoping to be noticed as little as possible. Apparently, there was a good reason for that. Herman Cain apparently sat down with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel editorial board to talk foreign policy and, well this happened.
Now, normally I would include a description of what happened in this video but this is one of those videos you really do have to see to believe. You cannot grasp how utterly clueless Cain is in answering this question until you see his physical discomfort and you wouldnt believe that he didnt know whether Obama supported the rebels or not unless you saw it for yourself. (Apparently, in another nugget from this same interview, Cain indicated that he believed that public sector employees should be able to bargain collectively so long as that did not impose a burden on taxpayers which is a little like saying he would be in favor of invading Iran so long as no one got killed.)

“The future of America depends on us electing a conservative as President. “
What makes people think Cain is more conservative than the other non-Romney’s? I mean seriously?
Is there even a country (by which you refer) known as “Lybia”? (sic). Hmmmmmm.....
Sorry, Kaila, just saw you post the same on another thread.
Posting here to tell you that I totally disagree with you. Not that I think you will be persuaded for even an instant.
It makes me so sad that Free Republic has been so invaded by people with such obvious agendas, and the invaders seem to think we are such sheep that we can’t recognize these.
You said that quite well.
It is funny to watch all the flip floppers during the primaries, they are worst then Romney. I am with Sarah always.
Newt will fall harder than Cain is falling right now.
Is it possible to mock a man who is now little more than a punch line?
>> The writing is on the wall...
Nobody writes on walls anymore. Now they just excerpt blogs...
Yup, Newt is climbing the mountain now, but will soon go right off the cliff in free fall, and what a spectacle it will be. At least he will land softly, on the a nice cushy couch next to Nancy.
I’ll take either one over Romney & Anybody over Obama.
That being said, Cain, I Believe is a moral man with a strong moral foundation. He is intelligent, and can be proved intelligent by his accomplishments.
I would take Cain over Gingrich. But I would love to see Gingrich debatye the worthless Won.
I agree.
I follow foreign affairs very closely, and listened very carefully to Cain’s response to the hit-questions. I thought he did well to answer as he did, considering that he did not have enough information from CIA, NSA, all the other letter bunches.
When one is asked to make a yes/no answer without the primary info, one can only say that there isn’t enough info to give a meaningful answer.
I credit him for being smart enough to know what he doesn’t know, and not trying to make points one way or the other.
If anything, this interview increased my confidence in him, because he knows what he doesn’t know about the mess the middle-east is, and will not go for an easy sound-bite.
I’m cheerleading my conservative candidate of choice. Nothing wrong with that. Now I’m going to donate some more money to my political hero, Herman Cain.
“Cain on Lybia:”
Lybia?
Where is that, near IsrEal?
Shall we agree to disagree.
I am old, and have watched far too many political campaigns. Your cheap comments do not impress me for one minute.
Actually, it makes me sad that you are such a poor judge of character, and that you think you have the right to define Greta’s reaction.
You should be ashamed to come on FR and try to “shape” our opinion. Most of us old-timers have much more political intelligence than you assume.
As I said, I am old, cranky, and sick of the forum being invaded by those with an agenda. I am being as honest as I can be, without out-right calling you a troll for another candidate.
I have not yet decided who will get my primary vote, but comments such as yours are just ad-hominem attacks, and do not sway my opinion for one nano-second. I can spot these instantly, and am just as quickly turned off by them.
Not afraid of anything as long as he doesn't get any tough questions about current events that have happened in the last month. Let's just hope he's not quizzed on who the leader of, say, Germany is. He doesn't have a basic set of foreign policy knowledge. I mean, he actually would try to stop Iran getting nukes by us drilling more oil here? That is CRAZY.
He's a very personnable guy, but do you really want a President who is so clueless as to basically just let Iran get nukes? A guy who would trade hostages with terrorists? A guy who doesn't know what the Palestinian "right of return" is? This is stuff a reasonably intelligent HIGH-SCHOOLER should know. Seriously.
Agreed. No one is asking him to be an intellectual but people expect a President to have a certain view of the world. Like it or not, Slick Mittens projects gravitas. Where you agree with it or not, that’s why he will probably get the nomination in spite of the fact few can stand him. Cain really needs to brush up his knowledge and articulate his principles to stand a chance and the Cain fans on here want to deny reality - he’s a flawed candidate. I discount the sex harrassment stuff but not knowing where the guy stands on foreign policy, on unions, on government regulation, etc, that is not going to help him. And calling fair criticism a hit piece shows that Cain supporters can’t evaluate his candidacy in an objective light.
I know it is Heartless of us to point this out, but La Raza Rick, The RINO cowboy is never coming back into contention. His “I’m against amnesty I just want illegals to have a pathway to citizenship and be able to come and go freely” crap didn’t fly, can’t be glossed over, and will never go away.
lol
they hit him with lies that rock his entire life, then when they have him dazed and confused and tired from the sleepless nights, they start critizing his for his poor performance in interviews.
Cain, needs to take a day or two off and regroup, get some sleep and come back fresh with a clear head.
The only serious candidate in the race with a chance is Gingrich. But he does come with a lot of personal baggage.
The truth is there’s no one that strikes me as ideal. Romney is terrible but the missteps of others is making him look good.
None of the other conservative contenders are drawing much support. I wish there was good news for next year.
