You wont believe me until you click play but this is much worse than Perrys brain lock at the debate last week. Perry lost his train of thought; Cain doesnt have a train at all here, to the point where he needs confirmation from the interviewer of what Obamas position on Libya actually was.
Eventually he produces some boilerplate about not supporting the opposition until youre sure whos in it and of course not making a decision as president until he has all the information, which is a standard Cain fallback talking point whenever he gets in trouble on a question, but the first two minutes or so are pure agony. The board actually took pity on him, I think, by not following up.
And that still only barely qualifies as the worst answer he gave today. Heres what he told them when asked, predictably enough, about Scott Walkers righteous crusade against public employee unions:
"On the issue of collective bargaining, Cain said he supported the right of public employees to bargain collectively." But not collective hijacking. What I mean by that, if they have gotten so much for so many years and its going to bankrupt the state, I dont think thats good. It appears that in some instances, they really dont care.
Cain also appeared to be unclear on the issue of collective bargaining as it involves federal employees. Asked if he thought federal employees should have the ability to bargain collectively, Cain said: They already have it, dont they?

Perry's screw up showed that he is not really sincere about cutting those three departments. It's common to have a "brain freeze" about things that you are not passionate about or things that are not important to you but nobody has brain freezes that severe about something they feel strongly about.
Perry's handlers probably coached him to say he would eliminate the departments of education, commerce and energy and Perry forgot what he was supposed to say.
Perry's screw up was much worse than a candidate stumbling over an honest response.
Perry may be OK as the governor of Texas, but the fact is he is unelectable as President against Obama and would surely lose. Heck, a third party candidate might even have a better chance to win than Perry if the GOP is stupid enough to nominate him.
Cain's position is whatever the Cain supporter's position is, of course.
He is right in the fact that we wanted to end up in the same place. Yes, we were not against seeing Khadaffi go. But, having him go and then replaced with what we already knew was coming (Muslim Brotherhood) does not leave Libya or the world in better shape. The other assessment is NATO involvement and specifically USA involvement. That, and the fact of violation of the War Powers Act by this President are ways Cain would have looked at it differently. Of course we did not hear a peep from our Republican leaders on any of these points earlier this year. We will not hear any peeps from them either to back Mr. cain up on it either.
Exactly. He’s not polished and practiced. He’s practical and thoughtful. Obama can’t leave home without a teleprompter.

One more time. Watch and listen to the video. Cain was asked what he’d have done differently. He was asked to critique Obama’s performance w/r/t Libya.
Here are the relevant parts.
“I do not agree with [Obama’s Libya response] for the following reason — no, that’s a different line...” (Then he pauses to gather his words.) “I gotta go back, see, uh...got all this stuff twirling around in my head.”
Interviewer: “I was wondering if you agree with what [Obama] did or if you would have responded differently.”
Cain: “...I would have done a better job of determining who the opposition is...I would have gone about assessing the situation differently...I would have done a better job of assessing the situation relative to the opposition, first, before I made decisions about what we would do.”
“I just don’t think enough was done relative to assessing the opposition, before everything, you know, exploded...I’m a much more deliberate ... I believe in having all of the information...I need to know the facts...to hear all the alternatives...This is the point I’m trying to make.”
Interviewer: “So I’m not clear, what were the parts that you are criticizing the President for in how he handled it?”
Cain: “Ok, the opposition that wanted to overthrow Khadaffi, who are they? How organized are they? How strong are they? Who would be the parent [?] leader? Now that they have succeeded did they have a plan for how they were gonna govern, or are you gonna end up now with a country in complete chaos? This is what I mean ... “
“All of those things I think should have been assessed.”
Interviewer: “And you don’t think they were assessed.”
Cain: “I don’t KNOW that they were or were not assessed. I didn’t see reports of that assessment.”
If he doesn’t know, he has constructed a straw man. If he doesn’t know, how can he make any judgment as to how thorough the assessment was, and say he’d have done it better?
Some of his supporters are willfully blind even to plain logic. They have defended (or outright denied) the evidence of their ears at every turn — usually every 2 or 3 days.
The man is out of his league. It has been obvious since “right of return.” Not only has he no experience, he has very little knowledge of political issues. Right of return, choice, collective bargaining, defined benefit vs premium support, Smokin’ Mark Block, the no-muslims retraction, negotiating with terrorists, the “signing” of an amendment, the “joke” excuse — how much more does it take to wash out the koolaid?
Sir, your statement is incorrect and you are misinformed. Cain has it right; while Federal employees are not allowed to strike; they are entitled to union representation (if they desire) when certain personnel matters are conducted w/management. Further, the employee unions DO negotiate w/management on working conditions, pay, benefits, etc.
I spent 37 years in DA and I can assure that there is a union agreement for any bargaining unit and management is required to provide all employees w/a copy of that contractual agreement.
But Newt has a proof positive rebuttal.
Cain is simply not ready to be President.
No one has to spin anything on Cain. He proves his is NOT ready and anyone can see it in the videos of him trying to answer about foreign and domestic policy. A child can see this, how he has no clue and gets confused and mixed up. He continues to have the deer in the headlights look on way too many questions. Cain is not ready and may never be.

Right, but the public doesn't care about Obama's gaffe's. Plus, he's already in the White House. Our guy has to be proven -- and regarded by the public -- to be leagues better.
gaffe’s=gaffes
We have 7 deeply flawed clowns...sad but its the truth.
Go ahead and post you spam to someone else, I’m not interested.
For those so vehemently against collective bargaining, why is it that states without it had higher budget shortfalls than those with it? The unfortunate situation is that it doesn’t have any discernable effect on helping states save money. All the data I’ve seen has show this to be true
The key is allowing collective bargaining while at the same time keeping the government from allowing it to become hijacking as Cain said.
I don’t like the idea of non-competitive unions bargaining for their pensions and sticking the bill on us, but at the same time there’s no proof this kind of activity causes us any more financial hardship.
Your measure for barganing appears to be if it doesn't cause bankruptsy, then it's OK.
