For those so vehemently against collective bargaining, why is it that states without it had higher budget shortfalls than those with it? The unfortunate situation is that it doesn’t have any discernable effect on helping states save money. All the data I’ve seen has show this to be true

The key is allowing collective bargaining while at the same time keeping the government from allowing it to become hijacking as Cain said.

I don’t like the idea of non-competitive unions bargaining for their pensions and sticking the bill on us, but at the same time there’s no proof this kind of activity causes us any more financial hardship.

Your measure for barganing appears to be if it doesn't cause bankruptsy, then it's OK.

Great job on covering for and apologizing for Cain!

Now, here is another one for you to spin for the Forum, and we can hardly wait to hear the excuses you can dream up;

Cain's position during the 2008 presidential election;

In 2008, Cain initially praised Democratic candidate Barack Obama, saying of Obama that “His gift is the gift of oratory. That's not just the ability to speak, but the ability to connect with people.” He also said that he would consider supporting Obama “under the right circumstances” but only if he made a serious attempt to “reach across the aisle”. Eventually, Cain instead endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican primary. [70]

'The key is allowing collective bargaining while at the same time'

The key is not allowing public service unions, the bedrock conservative position is not allowing public service unions to collective bargain. The line in the sand is no collective bargaining for pay and benefits.

Amazing that some Cain supporters OK with allowing public service unions to collective bargain for pay and benefits. Since Cain thinks federal employees already have those rights it stands to reason he would not object to extending the right to collective bargain to them.

Public service unions are a socialist Marxist dream come true. The takers unions get to negotiate with the Marxist elected to redistribute the tax payers' wealth. The bigger gov gets the more powerful the socialists/Marxists become and the more taxpayer wealth is "distributed". And Cain is OK with this? The more I think about Cain position on public service unions the madder I get. No one claiming to be a conservative should be on the wrong side or just plane ignorant on this issue.
