The REAL Cain Scandal (video cringe alert...has NOTHING to do with Gloria Allred)
Michelle Malkin ^ | November 14, 2011 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 11/14/2011 2:50:42 PM PST by St. Louis Conservative

It has nothing to do with anything Gloria Allred has her hands in.

It’s his continued lack of preparedness on, and familiarity with, basic domestic and foreign policy issues. Sorry, Cain fans. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. But like Rick Perry, Herman Cain is just not ready for prime time. The real Cain scandal: He can barely form a coherent thought on Libya when put on the spot and garbles collective bargaining 101 facts.

Watch for yourselves. Take anti-depressants or a stiff drink first:

On Libya (listen for the part where he excuses his hemming and hawing by explaining that he has “a lot of stuff twirling around in his head”)…

"Newt thinks the individual healthcare mandate is a good idea."

November 9, 2011: Gingrich also addressed the individual mandate. He explained that “a mandate doesn’t work in part because it means more and more and more government definition of, 'What are you mandating?'”

In response to a follow-up question from Charles Krauthammer about whether he opposed the mandate as a matter of policy or constitutionality, Gingrich replied, “I believe that it is unconstitutional for the Congress to require you to buy something…because then the Congress could require you to do anything.” Krauthammer asked, “So, you’re saying, in principle, it’s a terrible idea, even if [as a matter of policy] it might work.” Gingrich replied, “Yes.” He added, “A lot of us, in ’93, as opposed to Hillarycare, thought [the individual mandate] was a less destructive alternative. The longer we dealt with it, the more we concluded it was hopeless.” - The Weekly Standard

Where are the tapes of Barack Obama in 2007 discussing foreign policy, economics, or any other subject, with local reporters. I guarantee there were some brutal, cringeworthy moments that were never reported. And G.W. Bush in 1999? Technology did not exist to easily record streaming video, but one can only imagine how that marble-mouthed Bush garbled his positions on these issues. But again, we will never know, and neither of those men ever suffered. Fish’s staff must realize that EVERYTHING is recorded in 2011...and avoid it like the plague. CONTROL THE MESSAGE. It worked for Mike Deaver with Reagan, and it would work for Cain IF he had a real staff and not just the jackass Mark Block.

Its hard to stay current with flip floppers.

I guess Freddie Mac was only a model organization while it was paying him?

Sarah Palin should have entered this race, IMO.

Sarah Palin could not name a SINGLE Supreme Court case to Katie Couric - even though she was an active Plaintiff in the Exxon Valdez case and had talked about it endlessly on prior occasions. These videotaped brain tarts are meaningless. I would trust Palin as president in a heartbeat, despite her so-called gaffes. She has the mettle and morals to lead this nation. So does Herman Cain.

The Dems have plenty to use against Perry. It’s Cain they’re real worried about. Besides, they can’t even use the valuable race card if Cain’s the nominee... making him even more feared by the DNC.

lol.

Your going back to the most badly edited and most biased interview in history to make your point? :p

So what if she couldn’t name a SCOTUS case (either that or it was edited out to make her look bad, we might never know)

I like Cain more than any of these other guys. Maybe Bachmann but she has no chance.

CONTROL THE MESSAGE.

Boy, you sure summed it up there. One of the main appeals for Cain has been the “non-politician” label. That works up to a point when you are a boutique candidate, but in the big nasty world of politics and every damned thing recorded, you need big-time political advisers who ride your ass about “message” and control the interviews you go on and who you talk to, right down to who you get your picture taken with.

Cain is running an amateur campaign and it is melting under the hot lights right now. He needs to take a million of his warchest and buy some help.

It was Brutally Painful, Yes, much worse than Perry forgetting One Dept. name. Cain, don’t know squat about Foreign Affairs and this clip showed it, he just could not think of a way to get the conversation back to 999. Unqualified for the job.

There was a time when Freddie could have been considered a model organization, then Barney & co. got their hands on it.

Freddie payed Newt as a consultant. He gave advice which apparently wasn’t heeded. Is that really a problem? Aren’t conservatives about fixing problems? Unfortunately he couldn’t mandate they take his advice. I applaud his effort.

Yeah, he has a “crack” staff headed up by the brilliant Mark Block!

There's a vast difference between a presidential administration's cabinet and a primary campaign staff manager and history is rife with candidates firing and hiring such individuals ........

I thought his answers were fine. He seemed tired and stressed out, and obviously had a brainfreeze initially on the Libya question—but he recollected himself perfectly fine and gave a solid reply.

Presidents are only men, not superheros. They’re subject to the same human limitations as the rest of us.

Michelle Malkin is in the tank for Romney, so her criticisms are irrelevant.

You really need to read ENTIRE comments before responding. I AGREE with you. SO WHAT that Palin blanked out on it. She was probably pissed at Couric and at Hannity BFF Nicole Wallace for betraying her. These gaffes mean NOTHING to me. I still trust Cain (and Palin) to LEAD. I do not trust Mitt Romney no matter how many gaffe-proof interviews he gives. Michelle Malkin (whom many here insist is a RomneyBot) is really corrupting the process with pieces such as this.

Certainly there are those in the race more conservative than Cain. Bachmann and (perhaps) Santorum. It sure ain’t Amnesty Perry or Global Warmed over Newt or the flipper Romney

Cain is nowhere even near ready for a serious general election presidential run. The guy is simply a void on far too many issues that it seems like he has never even considered. Cain would lose in a catastrophic landslide that would almost certainly cost us our House majority.

From the article:

…On the issue of collective bargaining, Cain said he supported the right of public employees to bargain collectively.

Good grief Herman, the correct answer is NO. Public employee unions have been a complete disaster for this nation and conservatives should be completely opposed to them.

Cain is getting by as an effective motivational speaker, but he really doesn't know much about the issues. He seems to think 999 is the answer to near everything, and when that doesn't work he falls back on "I will gather all the information and talk to my advisers about that when the time comes".

The Libya clip is just embarrassing. He just doesn't even have a clue.

There are plenty of conservative politicians who are articulate and informed on the issues and do not flub questions. Why should we settle for someone who is? You want to win, don’t you?

Such as whom? Gingrich is NOT a conservative. He is a progressive, whose favorite book 'The Third Wave' was written by his 'life long best friend' Alvin Toffler, and which says the Constitution was 'antiquated' and needed to be replaced with a new system of government. Do you agree? Gingrich does, because he recommended the book to the entire GOP caucus upon becoming Speaker.
