Results from new poll of GOP primary voters from Democratic firm Public Policy Polling: Newt Gingrich (28 percent), Herman Cain (25 percent), Mitt Romney (18 percent), Rick Perry (6 percent), Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul (5 percent), Jon Huntsman (3 percent), Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson (1 percent).
One particularly interesting note from PPP: Theres reason to think that if Cain continues to fade, Gingrich will continue to gain. Among Cains supporters 73 percent have a favorable opinion of Gingrich to only 21 percent with a negative one.

I prefer both.
I can dance a mean hula.Performed in Waikiki .I respect both cultures.Hawaii has a huge mix of cultures due to it’s plantation immigration history.
You are just like the Democrats-you want to use the racism card if it suits you.
You wanted to play the racism card on me.
It did not work. I can look at candidates without looking at race- unlike you.
Goodnight- you lost this one.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go NEWT!!!

and hope you now that Cain is married to a dem that supported Algore and the EPA friend of Cain’s donated to his senate campaign in Georgia....so we have Cain and his dem wife greenie supporter
Obama hates half of his lineage too.
Well i did view the whole interview with Mrs. Cain...and did a bit of searching about her. I have to disagree with your take on her...not sure what you expected.
Based on what is known about her and the interview, she did well for her first actual interview. Nervous, of course.. for this is a woman who does not want the limelight in her face...and a rather shy individual..... seems to be bright and have an opinion of her own. She doesn't strike me as a personality that gets excited about much...more layed back and level headed. Rather like Laura Bush perhaps.
If Cain wins I think she will do ok as a first Lady, certainly vastly better then the one there now. But more needs to be heard from her...and considering the topic she began with of her husbands fidelity....well she REALLY did very well in that respect.
Like I said, you’re getting return fire from the Cain supporters because of the massive attacks by Newt supporters on Cain.
Now, if you’re willing to call truce, fine.
You should be bothered by your fellow Newt supporters insisting that Cain should get out of the race, and that we need to get behind Newt. Geesh, I get it that you like Newt, but there’s no need to go after the Cain supporters, and tell us what is best for us.
We never told you Newt supporters that you needed to get behind Cain. Why? Because we believed then and now, that it’s our job to present our case to Newt supporters that Cain is the best guy for the job.
I’m happy to take the high road, but when folks are going to start slinging mud at Cain, especially the Newt supporters, we aren’t going to take that lying down.
We didn’t take it from the Perry supporters, and we won’t take it from the Newt supporters either.
The choice is yours. You want the high road, then don’t post MSM cain hit pieces, and we’ll be happy to stick to discussions of the race, etc.
Deal?
Apparently only white people are racist. Who knew?
Boy isn't that the truth!....it's beginning to look like the filthy media bashing tactics has rubbed off on some in here...and this against our own!
I recall Newt's remark to the moderator who tried to pit him against Romney....Newt stated he was not opposing Romney he was opposing Obama. Thinking we could use that lesson amongst ourselves.
Odd that the ones slinging mud are the first to complain about mudslinging.
“No Federal Sales Tax - No Way”
Seems to me like 9-9-9 is precisely that.
Aren’t you inconsistent?
Don’t forget, Newt is the reason Clinton got re-elected. You see, once the Republicans grabbed the reins from him in ‘94, they put a damper on Clinton’s Progressivism. Hence, the electorate forgot how much of a commie Clinton really was and fatuously re-elected him.
Maybe that’s a plus for Newt in most people’s book, but not mine! A smart Speaker of the House would have made sure he gave Clinton just enough rope to hang himself.
Cheers
PPP polls have been shown to be useless. If you doubt the CNN poll as well, then this work is meaningless.
Cain can [win], which is why they are trying to destroy him.
Unfortunately, Cain is doing a fair job of destroying himself. Having seen the actual interview with the Libya question and answer(??), to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I know Cain has been busy running for office, but does this mean he never looks at TV or a newspaper? How could he not have something to say about Libya? Is he so low on staff that he has noone filling him in on current events? I can think of at least 1/2 dozen FReepers who could have given a solid intelligent comment on Libya and none of them are running for office. Oh, well.
Go Newt, go!
One can only speak for themselves on that note. But I think most here could take a step back, few that can honestly say otherwise as the threads will attest to this. Neither you nor I can claim innocence.
Since the federal budget had been unified, the issue was money in versus money out. There has been no separating of social security since LBJ. I don’t know how old you are, editor, but perhaps you remember this. I do.
Therefore, on the overall budget Gingrich led to a surplus, and that is something we do not have today.
Would you prefer today’s trillion dollar deficit or Gingrich’s 100 billion dollar surplus?
Here’s the simple truth: Cain and Perry are not ready for prime time. Cain can’t answer a foreign policy question to save his life, and us radical pro-lifers haven’t heard a position out of him yet that makes sense. Perry has imploded with his immigration positions, but that’s not the real problem...he can’t articulate his ideas. Santorum can’t get traction or attract money, and BAchmann has become a harpie. Paul, of course, likes to pretend the US is not affected by events overseas.
Romney is, and always has been, a liberal.
In addition to being a real conservative, Gingrich is the best prepared, most articulate, and most insightful guy left standing.
It’s a hard pill for some to swallow, but it is the truth.
