NBC is to announce on Monday morning that it has hired Chelsea Clinton to become a full-time special correspondent for NBC News.Ramin Talaie/Bloomberg News
Chelsea Clinton will be a special correspondent for NBC News.
The appointment is immediate. Ms. Clinton will show up at the news division offices on Monday morning, said Steve Capus, president of NBC News, and will begin work on stories that NBC expects to use as part of its “Making a Difference” series, which runs on “NBC Nightly News.”
Ms. Clinton has been a national figure since her father won the presidency in 1992, but she has remained — first by her parents’ request and then by her own choice — largely out of the public eye.

The fact that they have to refer to here as Chelsea Clinton (since she is now married with a new last name) proves their motive: name recognition. Or perhaps she prefers her maiden name like Hillary Rodham did early on. As far as I know, she kept her maiden name. I don't recall ever seeing her referred to as Chelsea Mezvinsky, although to be sure I don't follow her in the news...

As an aside. The Boston Globe had Chelsea and the hubby in their “gossip” section today. They attended some sort of benefIt and then had dinner at, Strega, a hot new restaurant. It seems that strict VEGAN Chelsea ordered the braised short ribs. I’m sure her dad who is supposedly also a strict vegan has his share of Big Macs.
