Any parents of young teenage girls want to offer advice on how to raise their daughters when this kind of stuff is all over the radio, and is the rage among these kids?
I won't post the lyrics here out of deference to FR posting rules, but read them here:

And here: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/nickiminaj/superbass.html
I'd caution that these lyrics aren't appropriate for kids, except they probably already know them.
While I don't enjoy all of their music, their chosen bands are talented and its nice to hear them do a cover of Johnny Cash or Led Zeppelin from time to time.
I consider myself lucky. ;)
And here we thought “Louie, Louie” was bad
Words could have been written and promoted by the cultural Marxist, Herbert Marcuse. It is to corrupt our children and make them useless idiots. Obscenity was never a part of “free” speech until the Marxists got control of the courts. Rot the children’s minds and you destroy the society.
My kids were listening to that pop crap, and then one day I turned on the Classic Rock station, and they’ve been hooked ever since.
Always keep it real classy don’t they?
I heard this kindof catchy pop song yesterday, but I couldn't really hear all the lyrics, so when I got home I looked them up..
OMG
the song.. Pumped Up Kicks
wow the whole things is apparently about some kid who is about to kill all the rich kids at school and then go home and off his dad!
good grief.
I got my daughter hooked on Early Metal (80s) Classic Rock/80s pop way back. At 22 she still listens to modern stuff, but most often has old stuff in the deck.
Look up “Crazy B!tch” by Buckcherry from a couple years back. Top 100 in heavy rotation.
I remember Sam and Dave back in the late fifties singing (well, actually singing AND yelling), “Hold On . . . I’m Comin’”.
I’m dealing with this crap now with my 11 year old daughter. It pisses me off beyond words. These people that come up with this garbage, package it, sell it; they’re just savages. Every aspect of decency has got to be torn up by these people.
Fortunately I don’t have that problem. My kids like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Rush.
My daughter saw a video that her friend made on YouTube. It had the catchiest tune that I’ve heard in a long time. She was singing it very loudly and I heard her. When she got to the chorus, I nearly fell off my chair and asked her the title.
She told me. I finally had her spell it.
It was “If U seek Amy”.
I said it back to her. She still didn’t get it.

That song is infectious....and yes, the lyrics are very disturbing given the cheery sound of the backing music.
Not completely sure of the point you are trying to make. Are you implying that the typical song lyrics of the 1950's were every bit as raunchy as the song lyrics of 2011? There has been no cultural decline? Is this your view?
Music in no more obscene today than it was 30 of 40 years ago.
And are you guys seriously going to claim that Led Zeppelin lyrics where wholesome?
Perhaps we should review some Zeppelin lyrics.
“Whole Lotta Love”
“Way down inside honey, you need it,
I’m gonna give you my love”
“All them good times, baby, baby, I’ve been yearnin’,
Way, way down inside honey, you need it”
“You’ve got to bleed on me, yeah”
Way down inside/ Way down inside
Way downinside, woman, you/woman
woman, you/you need it
“I wanna be your backdoor man”
Why is it that your generation survived Led Zeppelin and you fear that your child cannot survive today’s music?
It’s a love song, dig?
That song was actually from the spring of 1966.
Really? 40 years ago 13-year-old girls were turning on the radio and hearing (and singing): "You could suck a Dick or you could suck on a Ballsack"? (From the lyrics I cited in my link.)
I must have missed that.
April Wine beat Britney by a couple of decades with a similarly worded song.
