VPs are meaningless though unless the President leaves office. They have no power save to break ties in the Senate and invariably take the President’s lead.

Anyone voting for Newt is smoking a crack pipe while the One world Government is being formed.

Whoo hoo! Romney's coronation is almost complete: Perry trashed because he's not glib, Cain trashed/doubted because of a smear, and Newt trashed because we really want Romney.

We get what we deserve......

Exactly! Only Gingrivh the nominee will/can beat obama to a pulp (no other candidate can).
President Gingrich will be sandwiched between a conservative congress and a watch-dog conservative people so he has nowhere to go but to abide by the constitution and observe the conservative principles. President Gingrich will be strong enough to deal with the leftists media and the union thugs. Romney will be easily twisted by the left and the liberal media.

Social Security recipients receive far more than they pay into the program, interest accounted for.

Because it truly is a Ponzi that fact is no longer true of the present day participants. The other fact is the present day recipitants can do nothing short of financial suicide since the chance of us finding employment would not be likely!!!

One major reason we got stuck with an idiot like Obama is that he was too much of a blank slate - “moderates” were able to project their ideals onto him, and voted for him on that basis.

The situation with our candidates is just the opposite - we know in just about every case exactly what we like - and more importantly what we *don’t* like - about each.

Nobody agrees with me on everything except for me, and I ain’t running. So I’ve got to go with the person who a) has a decent chance to win and b) agrees with me on the fundamentals. At this point, Gingrich is pretty close to topping that set of criteria.

Some folks on this thread have complained Gingrich can’t win because he’s too conservative (the middle won’t vote for him); some have complained he’s too liberal (Toffler or Scozzafava or whatever). Both are possible, I guess, but as Chesterton said in describing conflicting views about Christianity, he’d have to be a pretty odd beast to be both.

I’ve little doubt that at his core Gingrich is conservative, and little doubt that he’d be more compromising than some others (and I wouldn’t consider that a good thing). But in debate, he’d wipe the floor with someone as ignorant of reality as Obama, and in the process he’d educate a sizable portion of the populace.

I’m not sure at this point he’s our best choice in our field, but he’s certainly (IMHO) among the top couple or three.

Newt’s intellect could make Einstein look like a mental midget.

Newt talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk!

NO to Newt in 2012.

Ronald Reagan was a Democrat at one point in time.

"There have been two conservative revolutions in my lifetime, Ronald Reagan led one of them and Newt Gingrich inspired the other........"

That was very nicely said.

Businessman Herman Cain is on the defensive, defying political gravity but wounded by allegations of sexual harassment ...

The real purpose of this WaPoo hit piece. The MSM couldn't destroy Cain with their harassment allegations, so now their changing tact; pimping up the other conservative candidates. They must be thinking if they can distribute the conservative vote among 2 or 3 candidates, then Romney is in the bag. Of course as soon as that happens, then they'll demolish Romney; as if they have to. Romney will be less energizing to the conservative base than McCain; just the perfect psudo-opposition candidate the MSM likes.

There is a tipping point when the Intellectual Giant makes others feel like Mental Midgets. The Giant is overthrown. Somewhat of a David and Goliath fundamental.

I don't think Newt can win against Obama.

Don't elect a Moderate GOP Establishementbot like Newt to be President expecting Congress to hold the line.

When we tried that with Bush, the GOP Congress rolled over and played dead for him on every issue.

The President, not the Congress, is where you get the leadership.

I would say he does. I would never have believed it 6 months ago. Also, 6 months ago I would never have considered giving him my vote.

I am a social/moral conservative...I believe IF you get those issues right, the others (economy, defense) will follow. However, no morale/social conservative of stature has appeared in this cycle (BTW - I like both Bachmann & Santorum - but they lack stature).

So, I’m left with my next area of concern - national security. All those standing, I am forced to conclude that Newt is the only one I could tolerate being CinC. So, he is getting my vote. Plus, he is the most seasoned and mature person running.

Which mature adult Newt are you voting for?

The one in May 2011 who claimed credit for dreaming up the Individual Mandate in Obama-care or the one in Nov 2011 who said the Individual Mandate was Unconstitutional?

Nov 2011In response to a follow-up question from Charles Krauthammer about whether he opposed the mandate as a matter of policy or constitutionality, Gingrich replied, “I believe that it is unconstitutional for the Congress to require you to buy something…because then the Congress could require you to do anything.”

We can both agree on that point. He has had 3 years to prove it.
