Can Gingrich seize an unexpected moment?

Newt Gingrich strolled onto the campus of Furman University in Greenville eight hours ahead of Saturday’s Republican debate looking very pleased. A campaign that once seemed to have passed him by has come full circle. Can he take advantage of an opportunity that almost no one, except the former speaker, might have expected?

The Republican presidential race is at an inflection point. Businessman Herman Cain is on the defensive, defying political gravity but wounded by allegations of sexual harassment and questions about his readiness to be president. Texas Gov. Rick Perry is in even worse shape, struggling to overcome multiple problems that go well beyond his embarrassing meltdown at Wednesday’s debate in Michigan.

All that has left former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney an even more apparent front-runner for the party’s nomination, despite the lack of enthusiasm for him among many Republican voters.

Gingrich is rising now in the polls, closer to the top than he has been since his campaign was given up for dead in early summer. And he clearly believes he is the one, perhaps the only one, who can take the crown away before Romney plants it on his head. To do that will test the sometimes volatile and often undisciplined Gingrich to the limits. In the past, he has often been his own worst enemy. Will this time be different?

The man of the moment appeared utterly at ease as he signed autographs and posed for pictures with people on the Furman campus amid football tailgaters on a beautiful fall weekend. He jokingly explained that he has no need to attack Romney. So many in the party aren’t with Romney at this point, he said, that all he needs to do is get most of them, not

Newt is a "close friend" of Alvin Toffler author of The Third Wave who wrote,
“The system of government the founding fathers fashioned
is obsolete, oppressive, dangerous to our welfare
and must be radically changed and a new system of

Mr. Toffler encourages the DEATH of the American Constitutional

Then there is the Newt's membership in the CFR and
the destruction of America's sovereignty with Newt's 1994
lame duck session of congress in which America is inducted into GATT.

Gingrich has screwed up a bunch, he isn’t perfect by any means...though he is one L of a debater.

I don’t think anyone doubts Gingrich loves this country and today is WAY different than yesterday.

I think even those who hate or distrust Gingrich knows he isn’t a fool.

Sometimes ego is a good thing. Gingrich certainly has a huge ego, to go along with that fat brain of his.

Gingrich ADORING history, being bright as L, loving this country, today isn’t yesterday—he will not screw it up.

Gingrich will want history to remember him well, almost as well as our founding fathers. He won’t screw this one up.

I don't know, but I'm going to stick with the Conservative Herman Cain until the end because I like that he has a history that shows he's against illegal immigration that goes back long before he was ever thinking about running for President. It shows he really see's it as a serious problem unlike most other politicians, who either support it for someone reason, or just ignore it because they don't see it as a problem, or are afraid to take the large actions that need to be taken to stop it.

It's a problem that is just as serious as our economy, and creating jobs, but for whatever reason the majority of politicians don't do anything to stop it significantly. Not to mention that they are completely out of touch with the Vast majority of American citizens when it comes to this this issue.

I like a lot about Gingrich, and he is obviously a much better candidate than the liberal Romney, but I like that the very Conservative Cain gave a lot of his real opinions back when he never thought he would be in contention for the Presidency. I also like the fact that he's a complete outsider who will show the power of the Conservative movement, and just how sick we are of pretty much every career politician.

I don;t care about Gingrich's personnel issues, anymore than I care about the accusations against Cain or anyone else. I care about their political views. I do think Gingrich doesn't look nearly as bad as most Republicans who have been in politics for as long as he has, but it still makes me suspicious, as it should.

It was just 2009 when he endorsed the very liberal Republican(even for a RINO) Dede Scozzafava against the Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman. Considering Hoffman had many prominent Republican supporters already, and polls were show he could win the race, it makes Gringrich look like a party first guy. Gingrich said he regretted his decision, but who wouldn't have regretted supporting her after that ridiculous race? Republican Scozzafava ended up dropping out, and endorsing the even more liberal democrat candidate! Of course he regretted hurting his image with party first crap, and was an embarrassment to all those who supported her.

How is Gingrich on illegal immigration? He seems to be one of those who talks tougher sometimes, but then backs down when he's in campaign mode. Even if we weren't going to deport however many illegals he said we wouldn't, while acting like it was impossible, but I don't want to hear that weakness in a candidate. It's just disrespectful to U.S. citizens at this point. I don't care if they never intend deporting very large numbers of illegal immigrants, but why say it? It's also very possible to do, and even for those against it, and constantly say that as a reason to promote doing nothing about the issue, it's a fact that we could do it rather easily. I find it annoying and insulting to say we couldn't even do it if we wanted too, because that's just not true.

Grinch is better than Romney, but I just see Herman Cain as someone who could possibly change our nation radically for the good. It's also refreshing to have a guy who's at least talking tough on illegal immigration, and takes it serious. I'm supporting Cain until the end, and I hope people who have been supporting him don't bail based on reasons the liberal media have stuck in your heads. He's electable, and he's qualified, he's who they fear the most, and I think he's would be the best President we have had in a long time. Herman Cain 2012! Yes we Cain!

The Reprehensible Record of a Rino:

There have been two conservative revolutions in my lifetime, Ronald Reagan led one of them and Newt Gingrich inspired the other.

There have been four budgets balanced in my lifetime and Newt Gingrich balanced them all.

There have been two historic upset elections in my lifetime for the House of Representatives, Barak Obama caused one of them and Newt Gingrich crafted the other.

Two entitlements, Social Security and welfare have been reformed in my lifetime, the former occurred under Ronald Reagan and the latter was done by Newt Gingrich.

The government has been shut down twice to reduce spending and Gingrich did it both times.

It is easy to find fringe opinion makers to slander someone with a 40 year public record. I have seen FReepers cite the John Birch Society and actually post their video to attack Gingrich. Let us reject the tinfoil hat crowd when seeking references for or against a candidate.

The following is from Herman Cain's website on illegal immigration, but he's actually talked much tougher on the issue before in the past, long before he was even thinking of running for President. That helps convince me he can see illegal immigration for the problem it is, and really wants to stop it anyway he can. Herman Cain 2012!

Immigration

America is an exceptional nation. We are also a prosperous nation because of our liberties and our free market system. That’s why people from all over the world want to come to America to create better lives for themselves and their families, because we are truly the land of opportunity.

Americans have embraced their role as the world’s premier “melting pot,” welcoming immigrants from every corner of the planet. We readily learn about other cultures, customs and beliefs. We appreciate those who are willing to come to this country and make America a more vibrant and enriched place.

Americans do resent, however, the willingness of some to circumvent our laws and enter our nation illegally. While many, if not most, illegal immigrants are peaceful people simply seeking to provide for their families, some are not. In fact, some are quite dangerous, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of American citizens.

Illegal immigration has only exacerbated illegal activity, such as the horrendous crimes of drug smuggling and human trafficking. Illegal immigrants who are repeat offenders are harder to track, making it difficult for law enforcement to prevent crime. Further, weak borders have caused a compounding problem of terrorists assimilating with illegal immigrants, crossing the border with them and entering the U.S.

Illegal immigration also puts a tremendous strain on America’s entitlement and health care systems. Illegal immigrants are typically uninsured and cannot afford to pay for their medical care, driving up costs for all Americans, even those actually insured. In fact, several hospitals in the U.S. have declared bankruptcy as a result of the costs of caring for illegal immigrants.

We must secure our borders, enforce our laws and promote the existing path to citizenship. Protecting our nation’s sovereignty should be a paramount concern of those elected to lead us, not an afterthought or a reaction once the problem becomes even worse. Further, taking a stand on the issue does not mean one lacks compassion, but instead, that one respects the rule of law and the importance of not becoming a lawless nation.
