WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democrat-controlled Senate on Thursday rejected a Republican attempt to block a regulation intended to curb power plant pollution that blows downwind into other states.
By a 56-41 vote, senators defeated a resolution by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who said the step was needed to rein in what he called the Obama administration's overzealous job-killing approach to environmental protection.
"We are simply asking that the clean air regulations already on the books stay in place and we do not make the regulations so onerous that they put utility plants out of business and we have an inability to supply electricity in this country," Paul said. "To have clean air and clean jobs you must have a balance."

I’m not surprised rinos wanted to block this. Wasn’t the EPA started under Nixon?
The folks who voted for these people will still be shocked and surprised when the brownouts and blackouts start, and the media will supply them with the approved counterfeit villains - the electric utilities who’ve had their hands tied by the politicians.
The Democrats ALWAYS vote in Lock-Step, and the usual suspects (Snowe, Collins, Graham, Lieberman) vote with the Democrats on big issues, but who were the other two (trying to save their asses in a close-race State)?
“...six Republicans voted against it, including Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee...
He was joined by GOP Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire,
Scott Brown of Massachusetts,
Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine,
and Mark Kirk of Illinois...”
Primary these azzhats.
Yes, the EPA was Nixon’s baby.
Agreed.
The usual suspects...
These people might as well just put a D by their name, because that’s what they are.
uh huh
... there will come a day....
“...By a 56-41 vote, senators defeated...”

Who did not vote?
Nixon was not a Constitutional Conservative, he was a “progressive” leftist, and is indeed responsible for many of the ills we now have.
That being said even if his bill had passed and the house likewise passed it Obama would just veto it. If these senators from Constitutionally traitorous states would would be weakened for nothing.

The two dumbies from Maine voted in favor of what Obama wanted? Even after Obama tried to get potatoes cut from school lunches? Why? Did Maine get a waiver for Obamacare or something?

I wonder how Ovide Lamontagne would have voted had he won the seat.

This guy is a pantywaist. Always has been, always will be.
Pity he’s not up for reelection until 2014. What has Tennessee done to deserve the likes of him and Bill Frist?
Kirk-IL not a surprise either....
