After debate flub, Perry recalls Britney Spears song ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’

....On Laura Ingraham’s radio show Thursday, Perry sheepishly recalled the incident explaining it was a “brain freeze” that felt hours long.

“A brain freeze for 54 seconds, it seemed like 54 hours. Listen, I stepped in it and I’m still wiping it off my boots,” he said. “You know I think a bunch of Americans would be pretty happy to forget big chunks of the federal government.”

Perry said that it is always good to laugh at your flubs and with that in mind he has a new section on his campaign website where people can vote on which government agency they would like to “forget about the most.”

....

Ingraham contended that she believed he did well in the debate, even with the flub.

“I thought you did well in the debate. And look, there are all these snotty little comments today. And we were teasing you earlier: I am sure your people told you, we were teasing — you know, the ‘Oops…I did It Again’ Britney Spears song,” she said, referencing his own “oops” comment when his memory failed him.

Perry admitted the Spears song came to his mind, too, the next morning.

“Everybody forgets things from time to time, and I stepped in it and forget the name of a Federal agency,” he said.

Ingraham advised that Perry preempt people making fun of him and go on Saturday Night Live. Perry explained that tonight he will be embracing his funny side on The Daily Show and the Late Show with David Letterman.

Or to put it another way...

How can you know what he’ll forget, if you don’t know what you remember! :o)

I agree that Perry just doesn’t seem to have the fire in his belly, as they say, to want to be POTUS.

It is almost as if he is going through the motions and just can’t wait for all of this to be over.

Tomorrow we have his wife Anita coming on our local conservative radio station here in Naples, FL.

I don’t know of a candidates wife that campaigned during the Primaries.

Most of the people I’ve spoken to just don’t like a wife getting into the political arena.

Perry channeling an iconic white trash skank. No class. He should have gone with Jimmie Hendrix and “Purple Haze”. A more accurate description of his 56 seconds and better drugs too.

Well, contrary to soem you can hear here, Perry has been a darn good Governor. He inherited a Governorship that had a lot less power than most other states, and he stiil was able to get a lot of things done inspite of the limitations on the office. No doubt that in itself created some enemies.

In Governor debates, Perry was always a bit behind the 8 ball, but he sure campaigned well, just as you see in his speeches in this campaign.

Would have loved for him to do better, but as they say “wish in one hand and poop in the other, to see which fills first”.

Never heard much from Anita here in Texas, so not sure about her abilities on the stump.

I can tell you that here in Florida her involvement is not going over well. We just can't figure it out. It is coming across that Anita wants in the White House more than Perry.

Maybe his adviser think involving the wife and son in his campaign will generate some segment of the voting population,

In Iowa she basically went on the air as the mouthpiece for why Perry did badly in the debates.

I don't want another Michelle or Hillary in the WH.

To the best of my recollection most Republican President's wives have taken on gracious roles as First Ladies advocating a cause, not running the business of their husbands campaign.

At least Ron Paul didn’t suggest the Immigration Naturalization Services agency to Perry.
