A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a paramedic and breaking his leg at the Occupy Wall Street site Wednesday night.
Police say paramedics were called to Zuccotti Park for a man who was acting irrationally.
When they arrived, the man in question appeared to be in emotional distress and police decided he needed to be taken to the hospital. But he refused to be placed in the ambulance and pushed one of the EMTs into a ladder, fracturing the EMT's leg.
The man is being charged with assault.
Earlier in the day, Mayor Bloomberg defended the protesters as law-abiding folks who keep to themselves and don't cause trouble.

So, how’s that occupying thing going?
Geesh.
Bloomberg is a fool.
Bloomberg also supposts Hitler's Brown Shirts.
This EMT is going to have a great lawsuit against Bloomberg & NYC.
Thanks for bringing back the 70s, again, Bloomberg! I’ll have to get my chastity belt out of the drawer before I venture out on the mean streets again.
Exactly like the tea party, except for all the overdosing, rapes, robbery, assault, arrests, human waste and begging.. they’re exactly like the tea party, especially how they want the government to take stuff from everyone else and give it to them.
Yea, just like..
This “Occupy” BS has been going on long enough. Time for wood shampoos and sidewalk sandwiches.
Clear out the vermin...NOW.
All of these “occupys” are doing nothing but enabling leftist violence. STOP IT!
There are three observations here. First, the EMT has likely a dozen lawyers at his bedside today and is grinning from ear to ear. The minimum he can probably get is $5 million. Second, Bloomberg now has to worry about the next cop or EMT to get injured in such a mess related to Occupy. Ten guys? $50 million or more. You don’t need this kind of threat over the city’s budget plan. Third....you can figure this many weeks into the “fest” and lots of great drugs going around now....with plenty of folks getting doped up and high. I would imagine an average of thirty calls a week from this point on with folks in some drug binge and attacking folks. If any of them bring harm to a cop....there will be a different perception of the threat.
Bottom line....nothing good much can come out of the Occupy New York episode.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
Yeah. My first thought was to wonder how the medics figured out which whackjob they were supposed to help.
Then the popos should'a taken him downtown to their place. Having the gov't "Health Care" folks hauling people in against their will is troubling. They used to do that in the Soviet Union.
He is not worried. He knows than Bloomberg will get him turned loose.
He supports them also.
You also need to have a couple of other friends as well. Al Buck should be one.
Bloomberg is like the scientist at the end of “The Thing” who tries to reason with The Thing and extends a hand of friendship. The Thing swipes him away with a vicious backhand and moves on to try the others.
Evidently Bloomberg was using a heretofore-unknown definition of "law-abiding folks who keep to themselves and don't cause trouble", meaning "law-breaking idiots who intentionally get in your face and cause trouble".
The EMT should sue OWS for every last nickel in their evil Wells Fargo account.
