DA Who Never Charged Sandusky Has Been Missing Since 2005
NBCPhiladelphia ^ | 11/10/11 | By Teresa Masterson

It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

But it is even stranger that we cannot ask Gricar why Sandusky was not put behind bars because the tough-as-nails district attorney disappeared in 2005. And though he was declared dead July of this year, his body has never been found.

"People ask why Ray did not prosecute, and I have no problem saying, because he clearly felt he didn't have a case for a 'successful' prosecution," Tony Gricar, Ray Gricar’s nephew , told The Patriot-News.

"... One thing I can say is that Ray was beholden to no one, was not a politician."

This district attorney who had “a bitter taste in his mouth for the [Penn State] program, and its coach,” according to his nephew, and yet never prosecuted Sandusky, disappeared on April 15, 2005 after telling his girlfriend that he was going on a drive.

His body may be found under the 50-yard line in Beaver Stadium.

Nothing is more serious than a ring of pedophiles operating out of a major University, and being supported by the head coach. In this town in this state NOTHING could have been more important.

The fact that we are even having this discussion in a country that allows an organization like NAMBLA to exist points to a larger problem, I think. These kinds of people think they can get away with this behavior because they can and do.

All pedophiles should be shot in the gut and left in the woods.

And what has that got to do with Ray Gricar? Do you have any evidence linking him to the case?

More likely under the shower floor in the new locker rooms.

District Attorneys commonly choose not to prosecute. Its possible that he didn't think he could win the case in court.

True. But Sandusky has now been charged with molesting the boy in 1998 using the same evidence.

Selective enforcement is the road to despotism.

Hypothetical scenario: Two politicians do the same illegal act. One is an R, the other a D. The D is allowed to resign, that is considered punishment enough and the matter is dropped (Jim McGreevy, Elliott Spitzer, Bob Torricelli, etc). The R is doing hard time.

What was that about selective enforcement?

No sir. You don’t get to ask me a question until you respond to my response to your assertion that the DA “was involved with far more serious cases than the 1998 Sandusky case”.

You tell us what could be more important than a pedophile ring operating in the shower room of Penn State for at least a decade?

Sandusky has been charged because of a whole lot more evidence than what was available to Gricar in 1998. I'm not sure that the current DA would be involved with this case based on the 1998 evidence if it weren't for the additional evidence acquired since 1998.

My theory:

Ray Gricar wanted to retire and travel the world. He had an adopted daughter in Washington State.

He gets the Sandusky case in 1998. He could prosecute, but someone or some group offers to pay him protection money for several years. Gricar puts that money into an offshore account.

Gricar announces he is going to retire and not run for re-election (county DAs are elected in Pennsy). If he just leaves, there is a chance that the bribery could be uncovered and he would lose his state pension, healthcare, etc.

If Gricar is declared dead, his daughter would inherit his pension and life insurance.

Gricar disappears, wipes his hard drive (account numbers for his offshore money) and sails into the sunset to live a nice life.

Now, someone helped Gricar get out of Lewisburg. I suspect one of his relatives from Slovenia (with which he had good relations and traveled there several times) flew into Canada, rented a car and drove down to Lewisburg. They traveled back to Canada (in 2005, you only needed a DL to cross the border).

I have his own words posted right here! RAY Gricar, the DA had an ADMISSION of guilt from Sandusky and refused to prosecute him. Ask yourself why. I know what I think. Now we’ve got his nephew, TONY Gricar saying he didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute! Again....BULLSHIT!

I haven’t been following this closely.....I didn’t know there was a ‘ring’. I thought it was Sandusky

Then the police were derelict in not investigating this. It was happening in plain site in the public showers for crying out loud. People say it but were afraid to talk about it. I’m sure plenty of people would have been relieved to tell the police about it if they’d just done their duty and asked some questions.
