President Barack Obama is now polling even with a generic Republican candidate in a new Gallup poll a measure by which he was down by eight percent in recent months a sign that he is turning his presidency around after a miserable few months.
Incumbents running for reelection underperform in this sort of poll, which allows voters to imagine their ideal candidate running against Obama. When placed in a head-to-head match-up with the GOP field, Obama performs even better.
Obama has also gained tremendously among swing voters who favored the generic Republican by over 20 points in September, but now are split between Obama and the dummy candidate.
In a separate poll from Quinnipiac University, Obama ties GOP front-runner Mitt Romney in the key swing states of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania, and leads the rest of the Republican field.
His strategy of putting the screws to Congress for failing to pass his jobs bill and the lack of enthusiasm for his Republican opposition are certainly contributing to the bump. While by no means assuring him victory in 2012, the polls indicate that Obama has succeeded turning around months of bad poll numbers.

Two thoughts:
1. This is an outlier as many other polls don’t look great for him.
2. If it is true, I’m *this close* to just giving up on the whole effing thing, as the entire country, no, the entire world, is too stupid not to eat it’s own sh&t anymore, and there isn’t much point.
Odd that Gallup still uses this obsolete polling standard.
He won the first time by exploiting anger and is aimed at doing the same thing again
Irrelevant. Just wait.
I remember watching a sporting match once where the “better” team looked like they were not doing so well. I made a comment about it to a guy who really knew the teams. He said, “yeah, that’s because they are playing their third string right now.”
Not that anybody is “third string”, but strategies and rhetorical “guns” will be pointed in a very different direction in a few months.
I personally know people who love this president. What’s worse, some of them are in the extended family.
Yep! He is going to be reelected and complete his “Dream” to kill America.
Last time he tapped into it. This time he’s creating it.
I wouldn’t worry about it.
This Poll menas nothing in 2011. Wait til January of 2012 when we add another $4trillion in Debt because of Obamacare.
Or wait til March when our 1q debt to gdp ratio makes the Eurozone look like a checking account overdraught.
I can’t see what the Obama Campaign selling point will be.
Maybe: “We’ll get it right this time... you’ll see?”
or - “Hey - we lead in the polls in November of 2011, thats all that counts”.
He loses in 2012 with a greater margin than Jimmy Carter.

How sad.Do they have a lick of intelligence?
I wonder how Cain musters up to the Independent vote?
If this ridiculous idiot gets re-elected...goodbye America!

The Dems have a built in base regardless of what they do or don’t do, unlike Repubs. Always hard to beat that.
Freepers dont realize that 1 year is an eternity in politics, and that the economy was bound to have some kind of turn around, just because. So we shall see what happens. One thing I’ll bet, it wont be like anyone is predicting.
I’d prefer a President Barak Ubama gridlocked and investigated by a Republican congress to a President Myth Romneycare with a green light from a Republican congress.
His improvement in the polls is more a sign that the Republicans are foolishly playing along with his “divide and conquer” strategy.
We actually got in an argument with one of these people at dinner. Out of the clear blue sky, this woman said she had seen obama's speech earlier that day, and agreed with everything he said.
This woman has an excellent job working for a huge corp. When I asked her how she got to be such a big liberal, she looked at me and said she's an independent.
She watches MSNBC every night.
The “Republican Establishment” would rather 0bama win than to give up their control of the party to a conservative.
