Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight children, with something like a dozen more also claiming they were victimized. That's horrible. Powerful PSU figures appear to have attempted to cover up what they knew. That makes it even worse.
But if one rumor turns out to be true, this may become a story too awful to compare to any other.
There's been nothing reported by an investigative journalist or law enforcement official so far, but a handful of media members are talking about investigations into whether Sandusky may have shared some of his victims with other adult males.
From two days ago, here's Dan Bernstein of CBS Chicago:
@dan_bernstein FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky's Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with "curious" relationships. Only the start.
Thursday morning, Mark Madden, a Pittsburgh radio host who wrote a story seven months ago envisioning Sandusky's downfall, went on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Morning Show to discuss the scandal. At the 7:15 mark here, he's asked about the "next shoe to drop." Here are his remarks:
I can give you a rumor, and I can give you something I think might happen. I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile foundation. And, hold on to your stomachs because this is gross, I'll use the only language that I can, that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to donors. This is being investigated by two prominent columnists as I speak.
Madden also speculates it'll be revealed that Sandusky was told to retire as part of a cover-up.
CBS Sports' Gregg Doyel tweeted the following later in the morning, appearing to cite a source besides Madden:
@greggdoyelcbs I'm told Penn's atty general has this sick Sandusky rumor on the radar. Warning, awful read http://t.co/Wy4uiuiD
We can hope none of this is true, but multiple outlets are saying it's being investigated. If it is, let's then hope investigators are able to find it never happened.
Has anyone checked to see if NAMBLA has a chapter/office in central PA?
LOL Good one. And after some of the true stories (Christmas tree tax and something else I read yesterday), I have to ask every time. The world is topsy-turvy.
No surprise here—Franco Harris defends JoePa:
Speaking to MSNBC on Thursday, Harris said that he’s “upset” by Paterno’s ouster and that the legendary coach did the right thing by reporting what he knew about Jerry Sandusky’s alleged abuse to his superiors.
When asked why Paterno didn’t alert the police, Harris defended his coach, saying the alleged abuse by Sandusky was “a university matter” and “no longer a football matter for Joe.”
“You people can say ‘Listen, yeah, everybody should do this,’ but... I would say 95 percent of people would go through superiors thinking that your superiors who are competent would do their job and go to police,” Harris said.
Harris, who was an honorary board member of Jerry Sandusky’s Second Mile charity, said he was disappointed about the revelations of sex abuse given how beneficial the program was to so many children.
(Note: Harris played under Sandusky for several years at Penn State.)
Part of the speech Joe Paterno made earlier this week when he announced his resignation at the end of the year:
I have come to work every day for the last 61 years with one clear goal in mind: To serve the best interests of this university and the young men who have been entrusted to my care.
Unfortunately, those pre-teen boys weren't formally entrusted to his care by commitment letters on signing day.
Then, there's Mike McQueary's letter to a recruit (McQueary is now in charge of recruiting for Penn State)
And Jerry Sandusky's autobiography, published in 2001, the year before he anally raped a pre-teen boy in the Penn State football showers (and we now hear there are at least nineteen other boys who were molested by him in some way), Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story:
.
Amazon is already sold out of the book. I pray it's because they were sold out and not because people bought it after this story broke. I hate to think that the #(*#&$ would get royalties from it. It's not the story of a crime, so the laws that prevent criminals from receiving royals from books about their crimes wouldn't apply (should Pennsylvania have one).
That is bad. Regardless of what the mother wanted, the School had the obligation to report it to the authorities immediately. There seems to be a pattern of "let's keep this in house" behavior in State College, PA.
Unreal that he's not in jail. They should be questioning him to learn all they can. And as several of us have speculated: the powers that be might well hope that he'll off himself.
They were required by law to report it.
Other players are not so generous with Paterno. They are disgusted that Sandusky was walking around the athletic facilities in the mid 2000s when they were in school. Sandusky had boys with him, and he introduced them to Paterno and other folks there.
I thought pedophiles had to travel to Thailand to find a subculture willing to accept their sexual attraction to young boys. But it seems as if they only had to travel as far as Penn State.
OTOH—This may be the defining moment when the nation stands up collectively and says “ENOUGH!”
Totally different. Here Sandusky was grooming kids to commit crimes reported by witnesses. This was covered up by the authorities.
In McMartin there were no crimes witnessed or reported, until the authorities themselves groomed the kids to tell a story.
Then
an adult GA unprompted tells his father he saw a 10 year old boy being anally raped in the showers by a former coach on the unversity

Four years olds, after massive coaching "to please mommy and daddy" say they were flown away in a hot air ballon and abused by Chuck Norris,
I thought that was the case. The list of criminal enablers is rapidly growing. When they begin to indict these enablers, there should be plenty of plea deals to identify the customers/predators.
My prediction: There will be thousands of victims and hundreds of predators. I think someone needs to see if any big donors are getting on flights out of the country today.
I’m not sure he was killed.
He may have had an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Bring your evidence. Be prepared to destroy it, or we will destroy you.
You can disappear with your life and be paid to get lost.
No body, no evidence, no problem.
Another possibility: Gricar may have been paid millions by Sandusky and his players (the other big shot pedophiles), enough to get a new identity and “disappear” himself to some South American country.
Sort of like a John Grisham novel.
Hmmm...
A good place to research the Gricar case is on Websleuths.com.
They have all the news articles from Centre County Daily, from the day Ray disappeared.
I followed the case for awhile. What no one could figure out was a motive for anyone to murder Ray Gricar.
Now I think we have motive!
Maybe he is in the federal witness protection program.
