Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight children, with something like a dozen more also claiming they were victimized. That's horrible. Powerful PSU figures appear to have attempted to cover up what they knew. That makes it even worse.
But if one rumor turns out to be true, this may become a story too awful to compare to any other.
There's been nothing reported by an investigative journalist or law enforcement official so far, but a handful of media members are talking about investigations into whether Sandusky may have shared some of his victims with other adult males.
From two days ago, here's Dan Bernstein of CBS Chicago:
@dan_bernstein FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky's Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with "curious" relationships. Only the start.
Thursday morning, Mark Madden, a Pittsburgh radio host who wrote a story seven months ago envisioning Sandusky's downfall, went on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Morning Show to discuss the scandal. At the 7:15 mark here, he's asked about the "next shoe to drop." Here are his remarks:
I can give you a rumor, and I can give you something I think might happen. I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile foundation. And, hold on to your stomachs because this is gross, I'll use the only language that I can, that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to donors. This is being investigated by two prominent columnists as I speak.
Madden also speculates it'll be revealed that Sandusky was told to retire as part of a cover-up.
CBS Sports' Gregg Doyel tweeted the following later in the morning, appearing to cite a source besides Madden:
@greggdoyelcbs I'm told Penn's atty general has this sick Sandusky rumor on the radar. Warning, awful read http://t.co/Wy4uiuiD
We can hope none of this is true, but multiple outlets are saying it's being investigated. If it is, let's then hope investigators are able to find it never happened.
I think the same thing.
I went to the Second Mile website and there are only pictures of girls activities. No board member names are listed. Definitely looks like the website has been scubbed.
Does that seem like a weird Board composition for a charity - 75% male 25% female??????
My only comment - I’m nauseous at this moment - and I’ll say no more, nor respond any further.
They can’t even fine the word ‘evil’, most are using ‘sick’.
Ex-President of Virginia ACLU Sentenced For Child Porn
(AP) A man who for 12 years served as president of the Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union was sentenced to seven years in prison for downloading what authorities said was some of the "most abhorrent" child pornography they have ever seen.
They can’t even find the word ‘evil’, most are using ‘sick’.
I posted a comment implying the same thing. Probably much less would be learned of the sordid details if Sandusky did the deed. We'll see if they leave him out on bail.
Amazing how all these “good people” managed to pay themselves BIG $$$
Paterno-part of the coverup!
The investigation began Nov. 2008 . IIRC , it went to the Grand Jury in 2009 .
He didn’t even have to post the bail...it’s more like ROR..the bail is only required IF he fails to appear for a court date..after the fact...
or they will make him disappear like DA Gricar!
Can’t help but wonder what Gricar’s daughter is going through right now. She seemed like a good kid back when he disappeared.
I’d be willing to bet that the PSU and Second Mile donor lists have a lot of names in common.
Dottie Gross [on the left], Sandusky's wife. Had to have known.
See my #102.
Sec of Education Arne Duncan, announced that in light of events at Penn State, his Department was today proposing broad, sweeping new regulations that he siad will "help protect out kids in the future."
"It's obvious from our investigations that these incidents all took place in locker rooms, in showers. Therefore, we are today proposing regulations that will CLOSE all existing locker rooms and showers in public education facilities. Kids can change in their dorms, or at home, and shower there after practice or other athletic activities. Further, because we understand that these regulations will cause some difficulty and hardship in certain cases, we are announcing a $ 600 million program to provide block grants to the states to allow schools to purchase Handi-Wipes to hand out to their students."
It has not been scrubbed . Lot’s of famous people on that Honorary Board .
