The president of Ghana is leading the charge as several African countries are making their stand against Britains threat that they either legalize homosexual acts or be excluded from financial aid.
I, as president of this nation will never initiate or support any attempts to legalize homosexuality in Ghana, said President John Evans Atta Mills in an official statement to the UK government under Prime Minister David Cameron last Wednesday. Ghanaian President John Evans Atta Mills
At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, Australia at the end of October, which Prime Minister Cameron attended, the issue of homosexuality in developing countries was raised in an internal report that recommended that all Commonwealth countries end bans on homosexual activity, reported the BBC.
Cameron, speaking to The Andrew Marr Show in Perth during his stay in Australia, said, British aid should have more strings attached.
Britain is now one of the premier aid givers in the world. We want to see countries that receive our aid adhering to proper human rights, and that includes how people treat gay and lesbian people, continued Cameron.
We are saying this is one of the things that will determine our aid policy, he said, adding that these [African] countries are all on a journey [to overcome discrimination] and it is up to us to help them along that journey.
However, President Mills shot back that Britain does not have the right to mandate Ghanaian cultural and moral values.

Looks like Africa is full of “uncle toms” (by the standards of America’s Black leaders).
I am not a big fan of foreign aid so this is a great example of people putting principle ahead of $$. Let UK sink into Eurabia....
I wish we had that black guy as President instead of the one we have.
Leftwing colonialism
Interestingly, if African nations had defied the West in the 1960's when it imposed the genocide causing ban on DDT by threatening to withhold aid, there would be 50 million more healthy African citizens happily producing everything they need on that continent, and they wouldn't need the slavery of receiving aid.
It's pretty sad when the only place to find sanity in the world is in Africa.
Lucifer must not have paid a visit there yet. It looks like the Brits are making his travel arrangements, though.
Reminds me of the quote from the head of the Boy Scouts of America, when threatened with a mass boycott for rejecting open gays: “Our values aren’t for sale.”
Glad to see there are few real leaders left.
Isn’t it the liberals who are usually hollering about “cultural hegemony” and “imperialism?” What better example of a coerced cultural imperative do you have than this? Yet oddly enough, I don’t hear anything but crickets chirping ...
Is Prime Minister Cameron gay? This sure is a big issue for him.
Good job, AC and Gadel.
I’m all in favor of attaching strings to foreign aid, but I don’t think it should be that string. There are FAR more important social problems in most African societies than that.
No, he’s happily married with three children (another child, his firstborn, died a few years back before he became Prime Minister). His problem is that he needs to pander to the “pink vote”, which is becoming increasingly important.
